5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites
Growing up I didn't read much at all. My parents started to bribe me for each page I read, but it wasn't until I read authors like Bruce Coville that I really got into stories.

Jennifer Murdley's Toad is one of my all time favorite. Along with Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher, it's my favorite of the magic shop books.

The characters are likeable...

2.0 out of 5 stars The mystical magical wonderful book.
The book was about a girl named Jennifer and a toad that she bought from a magic shop for a school project about pets. The only thing she did not know about the toad was that the toad, bufo, could talk. I would recomend this book to people who like Fairy tales , or books with magic. The characters in this story are Jennifer ,Ellen, Mr Elives, Sharra, Skippy,...

The characters are likeable and full of depth, and using Charles Perrault's "The Fairies" as a basis was brilliant. I love tales centered on legend and folklore and old fairy tales, it adds to them a believability and richness.

If you've ever felt as though you were a girl (or boy) in a plain brown wrapper...if you've ever longed to stumble into a magic shop and come away with an adventure, this is a story you'd enjoy.

Though intended for children, it's still one I can pick up with fondness and immerse myself in again.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good book, October 17, 2004
A Kid's Review
This book is good for third and fourth graders. It is about a toad that can talk and has a personality. It is a fun book because it is magical, mysterious, and fun at the same time. I have liked the other books in the series too.

5.0 out of 5 stars I liked Jennifer Murdley's Toad a lot., March 10, 1999
By A Customer
I liked the book because I liked the talking toad named Bufo. I liked Jennifer because she was like a geode. I really liked all of the characters, like Mr. Elives, Bufo, Esmerelda, Jennifer, Sharra, Ellen, Jerome, and Roxanne. It was a good story.

"My favorite character is Bufo, because he is funny, and does great imitations. You can even feel yourself being pulled into the story! In Jennifer Murdley's toad, feel the suspense, the humor, and the magic. I loved this book, and I think you will too."

I thought the book was boring.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book I Read This Year!, January 14, 2000
By A Customer
The book Jennifer Murdley's Toad was a hilarious ride in reading. I thought that this book was very funny. It was a combination of comedy and a little bit of mystery. The author paints a very clear picture of Bufo (the toad)and the situation at hand.I would recommend this book to someone who has a good sense of humor, and someone who can understand lame jokes.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Most mirrors are mere errors", November 8, 2003

Jennifer Murdley isn't a pretty girl. Jennifer gets picked on a lot by her looks in school. But, when Jennifer gets Bufo from a magic shop, things change. Bufo has the gift of speech (and not the gift of silence!). Bufo can mimic voices and noises with ease. Soon, Jennifer saves her little brother from an evil witch that wants Bufo. Not as good as some of the other books in the Magic Shop series.
