poorly made,

This review is from: Jensen CD-540 Portable Stereo Compact Disc Cassette Recorder with AM/FM Radio (Electronics)
The controls on this player looked flimsy and cheap right out of the box. The volume spinner was practically falling off. For the cassette player there is a separate button for stop and eject and they are on opposite sides. Counterintuitive to almost all other players out there.
And the cassette player chewed up a beloved tape the first time we used it. Worthless piece of junk!

I just bought this at Target tonight -- it is just horrible! The buttons are VERY flimsy, the cd player didn't even work, and the whole thing just feels like it might fall apart! I am returning it, and now warning everyone else to spend your money on something else!

The cassette player stopped working the first day, the CD player "skips" on even new CD's, radio stations "drift" (if you can even tune them in, the bands are so narrow). Jensen owes an apology to any one who bought one of these radios. Rating it as even one star is too high. Beware!!!!!

Avoid!,

Until reading the other reviews, I thought that may be they just had a bad day
at the factory when assembling my unit. My complaints: 1. The connection from the wall cord to the AC jack is loose fitting which makes the radio unexpectedly turn off at times. 2. Having trouble getting the cd player to play most of my cds. It tries to read them but mostly fails. On a positive note, it does play my cassettes (the main reason why I bought it)!!! So not a complete waste.

Absolute Junk,
This review is from: Jensen CD-540 Portable Stereo Compact Disc Cassette Recorder with AM/FM Radio (Electronics)
This cd player worked once, and never read a cd again. Worst product that I've ever purchased. Don't waste your money. When I returned it to Target, the employee told me that lots of people had been returning this product because it doesn't work.
Now that I've belatedly researched this product, I see that it gets universally bad review everywhere. I'm not sure why retailers are still stocking products by Jensen.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS,

Well, I blew it. I bought this for $19 on sale without reading any reviews. It looks good but is total trash. The radio plays fine. The CD did not recognize 2 of the 3 CDs I tried in it (actual real CDs--not CDRs). The 2 cassettes I tested (or attempted to test) would not even load properly in it. I mean come on now. I never bought any electronics product that had this many faults. If you need a cheap radio, go for it. If you want a working CD player & Cassette player also, stay away from this piece of junk. How can any company get away with selling garbage like this??????????

Bought this for a present on mothers day. Power cord was loose in the socket, and none of my CD's worked. Will be taking it back to Target immediately!

Worked for an hour or so, then it just stopped working. No kidding. My daughter got this yesterday evening for her birthday. She played 2 cds, beginning to end, then when she put in a third, she got blinking lights and it just won't work. The radio will play, and we haven't even tried the cassette player yet, but no more cds. Can this really be made by Jensen? It's going back to Target tomorrow.

I should have read the posted reviews before I bought this. I bought it at another store and had a problem right away. The CD player started skipping right out of the box.
Based on all the bad reviews here and my experience, I suggest you do not buy this product.

I bought one at Target. When I plugged the power cord into it, the connection was loose, and you had to wiggle the connection to find the exact position for it to have power. Took it back and got my money back. I'm amazed Amazon even sells these - they should drop this brand!
