I sent it back...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Jensen JW160 Wireless Headphones (Electronics)
I was replacing a 3 year old "as seen on TV" wireless FM based headset. These 900mhz state of the art headphones didn't even come close. Here are the problems: Headphones picked up a local TV station even with the base turned of. Very poor performance when used plugged into my TV's RCA type audio jacks. (why I bought them). Hissy and staticy walking around inside house (even close up). Tech support rep very condescending. I am certain it was the model and not my TV or house or locality. I went out and purchased the Advent AW720 and have none of the above problems. I would have liked to read this before I purchased. On the good side, Amazon is making the return very very painless. Thanks Amazon!

Unbelievable Hissing,
By A Customer
This review is from: Jensen JW160 Wireless Headphones (Electronics)
I don't claim to know much about elctronics, but I do expect not to feel as though I have a cobra wrapped around my head hissing in my ear. It's enough to drive you insane and would not adjust out. The stated operating range of up to 150` is a bit exaggerated also. Some static within just a few feet. This product did not meet my expectations when purchased at around $60, their MAYBE worth about $20. Their going back.

I think for the money these headphones are ok but they are painful after awhile expecially with glasses on, plus if you live in a certain area you will get alot of background noise expecially if you have a 900 mhz phone in the same room. As I said they are good for how little they cost but if you should think of spending more to get better.

POOR quality,

I purchased this too because of the pricing. I have never been this dissapointed with a tech product in my life. You cannot move more than 10 feet without static and interferece, I would like to meet the idividual who tested this product at 150 feet becuse it more like 1.5 feet if you want any type of reception or sound quality. At any rate I did return this product as a very unsatisfied customer. This was the first and last product I purchase from the Jensen corp. Save your self the frustration and head aches (literally) and spend the money and get yourself and higher quality product. Also... Read a review or two before purchsing, I wish I had.

I bought this primarily beacuse of the price- I regret ever buying it. It is a very poor quality item. Lot of static even when using 5-6 ft. from the transmitter. I have caught phone conversations on the headphones. Would not recommend.

Too much tuning, cost:performance ratio in doubt,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jensen JW160 Wireless Headphones (Electronics)
When you can get the signal, they sound good. But as you move around the house they constantly lose the signal and you find you have to constantly tune in. And there are only two weak signal possitions on the dial on either the A and B channel. Not only that, but the batteries die out quickly. My dad, who bought these headphones to listen to the TV and CDs because he's nearly deaf (and subsequently doesn't hear the high pitched hum in the background because of high tone nerve loss), is going through batteries like water. Maybe some people can buy batteries at this rate, but not him. Not only that, but the tuning wheel is so close to where you can get a hold of them to succesfully take them off that it's hard not to grab them by the tuning wheel when taking them off. Which, as you can guess, screws up the tuning everytime. If only there were handles on each ear cup for easy removal. We're sending these back and looking into the more expensive rechargable ones from a company that specializes in hearing loss technology.

Great headphones, depending on how you use them,

I was very skeptical of these headphones after reading reviews all over the internet. But based on price, it seemed like a risk worth taking. Have I ever been pleasantly surprised!I use these primarily for working out. I have them hooked up to my mp3 player and then to the transmitter. I have the transmitter in the basement less than 10 feet from my workout area and have had zero problems. However, if I decide to go upstairs then I have issues with the walls, interference etc. But I knew that was going to happen since my cordless 900mhz phone did the same thing. The unit is SO portable it makes moving the transmitter a breeze. If I want to wear the headphones outside, I would move the transmitter to a better location, not leave it in the basement. For someone who want to use them while they work out and is willing to move the transmitter every once in a while based on where you are, then this is perfect. No more flailing wires on bouncing mp3 players while on the treadmill. Once tuned in, sound quality was great for me. If I'm working out or doing yardwork all I want to be able to hear is the music to keep me going. Overall, just use common sense. If your cordless phone has issues in your house, then guess what, so will these 900mhz headphones.

Leaves a lot to be desired,
By A Customer
This review is from: Jensen JW160 Wireless Headphones (Electronics)
Headphones are comfortable enough and the product fit and finish quality seems to be OK but I found that if my head moved I lost contact. I had to position myself to get the signal and stay in one spot. The frequency selection is the real problem. The tiny dial is way too sensitive to accurately tune in and stay there. The interesting part was that I could listen in on other peoples phone conversations even though I'm at least 500 meters from the nearest house. Bargain basement electronic quality at best. Might be appropriate for youngsters when the parents want a little quiet but they too would soon protest. Back to the store they went.

I bought these earphones so that I could hear the TV when my wife is on the phone, without having to raise it....for that purpose, they're fine. Yes, there is some hissing from time to time when you move around, you have to do some tweaking to get a clear, distortion free signal, but at the end of it the sound is really good. I mean, for the price, what more can you really ask for?

Jensen JW160 Headphones Sound great for the money,
By Don Dudley (Chicago, Illinois United States) - See all my reviews

I received these as a gift. I believe that they retail for 50$ (less on line here). I don't understand why most people hate these so much. Sound quality is great for something this inexpensive. The reception does fade sometimes but, so what?!? They're on your head! How hard can it be to retune them? Since they are a 900Mgz product I would imagine that they won't work well if your cordless phone also works on 900Mhz (unless of course you want to easedrop on someone). They are fairly comfortable I like that they are "right on top of your ears". Would be nice if they where adjustable headband. The only "issue" that one might have is the fact that they don't have a lot of bass Spec is 40hz and the high end only goes to 16 khz. Highs do get somewhat "hissy". But I doubt that you could beat them for the money. |
