Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Compact but ready to rock, Jensen's JPS10 PowerStation subwoofer pushes 115 high-powered watts to drive the sound from your music or movies with wall-rattling oomph. The sub features a large, 10-inch cone woofer and a continuously variable crossover (50 to 150 Hz) so you can tailor its upper-frequency output to match the lower-frequency limits of your other speakers.

Speaker-level inputs and outputs let you put the sub inline with your speakers (for stereo or home theater), while a line-level input is perfect for explicit use as the ".1" LFE (low-frequency effects) channel in a 5.1 surround setup.

When used in conjunction with smaller, bookshelf-type speakers, the subwoofer extends system capability to full-range frequency response, down to a respectable 35 Hz. With larger, floorstanding speakers, the sub helps shoulder the burden of reproducing low-frequency information.

It's not video shielded, so don't place it too close to a TV or computer monitor. If it's on the floor, though, it'll likely be far enough from your screen to negate any video distortion that might otherwise result from the speaker's magnet being too close to a monitor. A sleep circuit saves power by switching the sub to standby when no signal is present.

What's in the Box
Subwoofer, speaker grille, 4 wooden "feet," and a user's manual.

I like everything about this woofer, except the fact that--when it goes into power-saving "sleep" mode--it lets out a loud sound that my wife says is a snore, but I say it's a fart. Either way, we're returning it, since it wakes us up when we've fallen asleep during the music, and it emits this loud-but-odorless flatulence every 10 minutes or so when we've got the volume of the music down low.

As others have mentioned, this subwoofer makes a very loud and rather impolite sound when it decides to go to standby mode. And many times it'll go noisily into standby in the middle of a song/movie. I thought I had a bum unit and tried the 8". Same thing! I'm no audiophile, and I hardly think it takes a purist to be turned off by the sound of something occasionally relieving itself in the corner of your living room.

It's hard to believe Jensen continues to sell this thing with such an obvious and annoying flaw. Might be good as a novelty/joke item. Otherwise, avoid.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Jensen's JPS10 PowerStation Subwoofer (Electronics)
I really don't know what those guys are talking about, I got this sub and I put it on my 600 watt kenwood surround sound amp with an rca cable. I turned that sucker on and i was amazed by how good the sound was coming from it. And it is ten inch you can't really beat that fot the price you would have to spend like 300 to 700 dollars for a ten inch anywhere else. plus it sounds as good if not better than half of the big names. I had a yamaha sub and this kills it for the sound part and looks. Plus the yamaha broke. So if you have a amp with a sub rca jack in the back i recommend this sub. but if you have a mini system don't get it. but i recomend this sub.
