Some might consider this a lower end product, due to the fact that it's about half the price of it's nearest competition. Rest assured, the 'cheap' stigma is in price alone. It's an easy to use, easy to adjust, and fun to use deck that even the least tech-savvy of car owners can operate easily.

2.0 out of 5 stars nice
Nice for the price the only thing that I was not happy with is that it did not come with a remote the wiering hornis or sat radio hook ups or anything and when I found a wirering hornis for 24the bucks plus shipping the touch screen did not work. Not very happy with this buy.

Some might consider this a lower end product, due to the fact that it's about half the price of it's nearest competition. Rest assured, the 'cheap' stigma is in price alone. It's an easy to use, easy to adjust, and fun to use deck that even the least tech-savvy of car owners can operate easily.

First off, I was surprised at how good the picture is. I never feel like I'm watching on a tiny screen, or squinting to make out details. The sound is also good, although at times during dvd playback, I thought it was a bit quiet. I haven't tried using a satellite radio or iPod yet, but for cd and mp3-cd playback it worked well, with great options for navigating through folders.

Few warnings for those thinking of buying this product;
-Player automatically reverts to full volume after being powered down. Can be a bit of a shocker if you're not ready for it.
-When going into the input menu or setup menu, there's a break in the audio for about 1-1.5 seconds. This isn't really a big deal, but is becoming more and more annoying the more it happens.
-It has some trouble recognizing the track title of most store bought discs, substituting song names with "Track 1, Track 2" etc... Not an issue with mp3 discs with ID3 tags.
-There's no option to fast-forward an mp3. I thought this would be a big deal, which prevented me from buying this deck for a while. Not really an issue.

Considering the price, it's a really decent deck. Intuitive controls, easy installation, and fun to show off. Other than a few minor (and probably easily remedied) issues, I'd definitely recommend this deck.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for iPods but you may need an EQ, April 16, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jensen Vm9312 7-Inch Motorized Touch Screen Multimedia Receiver (Electronics)
I bought this to replace a previous Jensen DVD TS player because I wanted the gigamp3 and ipod interface. The ipod interface is nearly flawless. It's nice being able to control music via the touch screen. The only thing missing is the ability to use the shuffle. (The TS does not work for videos and photos for the iPod, you have to control those with the ipod itself). The interface fit nicely in my glovebox and works great with the adapter I purchased seperately.

Unlike my previous Jensen DVD, this one does play gigamp3 discs! (mp3s on a DVD-R disc) and I haven't notices the noise errors I used to get with the old unit, so they have done their homework and improved for this generation.

On the downside, you'll probably need a seperate EQ if you use the sub RCA output because it tops out at 0 DBs. I run two amps and ran the RCAs to the main speaker amp no problem but the bass amp (a very powerful one) didn't enough signal to be able to hear any bass. I play mostly rock and you can really hear the bottom end missing if you run a seperate sub amp. I fixed this with a Kenwood KGC-4042A - EQ/ crossover which bumps the bass DBs up so it's fine (if you need an EQ that's a great unit and works perfectly with this DVD player). This unit's onboard EQ is a big step down from my old Jensen (VM9510TS) unit as well. The next unit up in the line probably has a better EQ and puts out bass but it wasn't available yet when I ordered this.

Overall, this is the unit to get if you want a great iPod interface in your car, the video and gigamp3 is a nice bonus but if you run amps, you may need a little something extra to get a balanced sound.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best bang for the buck!, April 2, 2008

This review is from: Jensen Vm9312 7-Inch Motorized Touch Screen Multimedia Receiver (Electronics)
I bought this unit because I wanted an indash DVD player with touchscreen and this was the cheapest one.The unit is loud, has bass, mid, high and subwoofer controls. The screen is very clear. I have played DVDs, VCDs, SVCDs with no problems at all (I burned the VCDs, SVCDs..). I used the bypass code to overryde the hand brake screen lock (and there is no need to use a switch or to even ground the pink wire, just hit SETUP, then 5,4,3,2,1,0, then press the hammer scrwedriver icon and turn brake overryde off. I mounted this unit by myself). I only wish it had a dettachable faceplate since here in Venezuela we have a lot of thiefs or chaviztas..
Buy this unit if your government only lets you spend 400$ online a year .. lol (sorry that was for my venezuelan mates).

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding product for the price!, April 12, 2008

This stereo performs as well as the "next generation" up. The only downside is the processor is slower. So if you don't mind the 10 to 12 second delay in changing from radio to ipod (for about half the price of the competition) then this is the way to go. It works great with the ipod. The DVD is unbelievably clear. I also installed a rearview camera, which does not automatically go on when you put the vehicle in reverse...you must install a seperate switch for this (it links to the auxilary port) and works great. I'd recommend this setup to anyone.

The sound is great, i am waiting on my jlink cord to hook the ipod up but for now i am just running the audio to the radio and i only have dvd's in my car now. I love it
