Great Coffee at a great price,

This review is from: Jeremiah's Pick Coffee Fogbuster Whole Bean Coffee, 5-Pound Bag (Grocery)
I moved from Northern California to the Ozark Mountains of northern Arkansas. I can get Starbucks at the nearby grocery stores or more expensive "gourmet" coffees, but that's about it. I have been on the lookout for robust, full flavored whole bean coffees at reasonable prices. I tried Pete's espresso blend and liked it, but it wasn't available the last time I checked. So I tried this Fogbuster and I like it even more. Good thing, since it comes in a 5 lb. bag. If you like Starbucks French Roast, this compares quite favorably.

Fogbuster is excellent for a dark roast, and the 5lb.bag is a great value. If you're looking for something mild, I'd suggest Jeremiah's espresso or Kona blend.

The best wake-up in the morning coffee beans ever. Strong and rich without any bitterness. I can't start my day without a cup to "bust the fog". Store in the freezer and grind as needed to keep the flavor.

This is the first Jeremiah's variety I've tried, but I am completely satisfied and finally feel like I've had a "truth in advertising" moment of my very own. Although it's really the number of positive reviews already in place that sealed the deal. I figure if you're writing reviews about coffee on Amazon, you probably know a thing or two about the grind.
Now, to reiterate, Fogbuster consists of dark, oily beans packed with rich, nutty, semisweet flavor. It also makes a full-bodied iced coffee. Fogbuster is most similar in flavor to Taylor Maid Farms' Goat Rock roast; it's as good or better than any cutely named Blue Bottle variation; and if you're waiting to hear what I have to say about Pete's Coffee, you've missed the point. I live in San Francisco where this is brewed, but the Jeremiah's store is in a sketchy neighborhood and it's actually far cheaper -- at the moment anyway -- to order Fogbuster through Amazon than Jeremiah's website. I've already set Fogbuster up to be ordered automatically every six months (I know one 5 pound bag won't last that long, but I also know I'm finicky and will want to try some others inbetween). A parting shot at Jeremiah's: Offering pre-ground beans to your customers through a middle-man warehouse is akin to Ian Astbury joining The Doors. It's sacrilegious.

MMMMmmmm GOOD!!! SUBLIME COFFEE- BEST EVER~,
This review is from: Jeremiah's Pick Coffee Fogbuster Whole Bean Coffee, 5-Pound Bag (Grocery)
I have bought this coffee two times and it is wonderful! Dark roast similar to French Roast. I don't particularly care for espresso burnt bitter. This is a dark roast that is robust, smooth and very flavorful. I also store in freezer and decant into airtight containers that I use during the week. Good to store coffee beans in freezer for 3-4 weeks, but bring to room temp for grinding or oils are heavy.

This is by far the best bean in town. Before I left the states I was drinking Trader Joe's French Roast which I really enjoyed. Fogbuster takes it up a notch. The coffee is strong, rich and has a great depth of flavor. I highly recommend this to those who enjoy a strong cup of coffee with a good flavor.

Despite its name, don't expect this to be the darkest, strongest coffee you've ever had--unless you're switching from Folger's, or Gloria Jean's, or even Lavazza or whatever. The Fogbuster is a nice, dark roast that doesn't cross over into a French or espresso roast. For the past few years, our everyday coffee has been Longbottom (a local Portland roaster) Black Gold blend. The Fogbuster is milder, my wife prefers it, so it is going into a regular rotation with the Black Gold (which I recommend you coffee lovers might want to Google). I like it, too, the price is outstanding, and the five-pound bag is convenient. I'll also mention that we like Italia D'Oro from Boyd's, because along with our fondness for Longbottom, that might serve to give you some points of flavor reference. (Wouldn't it be great for Amazon to publish a chart showing that people who like coffee A also tend to like X, Y and Z?) Last thing, this coffee came in a bag just like the picture, not a clear bag as some have mentioned, and there were no issues with the way it was packed or sealed.

When the local MegaMart stopped carrying two pound bags of the beans I'd been buying for years, I was outraged and started shopping around. I found Jeremiah's here on Amazon and ordered this five pound bag. It was a tad more expensive than equivalent supermarket beans, but hey, it's delivered to my door.
Oh, happy day! The beans even LOOK better--oily, almost black and powerfully fragrant--and make the best coffee we've ever had at home. It's just this side of bitter (a good thing), one sip of this and you know you're drinking Serious Coffee. I do agree with the reviewer who said to grind Fogbuster more coarsely than usual. For some reason it makes a big difference in flavor. I signed up for six month delivery, and since no way will five pounds last us that long, I'm going to try the Kona next. Thank you MegaMart!

This is a good all around coffee. Nothing bitter, good flavor, good aroma (but not much aroma). If you like a really powerful brew, this is not it (don't be confused, this San Fransico bean will not bust any mental fog). If you just wa good coffee you can drink all day, this is an excellent value.

These beans were not fresh.,

It's hard to tell if this is a truly good coffee. It very may well be when the beans are fresh. As soon as I opened the bag there was that vague smell, almost musty and definitely stale. I made a pot anyway. (I'm cheap that way.) Honestly, the stale smell is not evident after brewing but this is a mediocre coffee at best. Maybe it would be better if the beans had been fresh, maybe not. The flavor is almost rich, almost dark, almost really good. It just somehow misses the mark. The beans themselves were, aside from the smell, decent; uniform, a good color and firm. I've had much better coffee and I've had much worse.
