…And so Vegas never lived up to my expectations.Justice League of America #201 (April 1982)
This was one the first comics I remember wanting to save and keep in somewhat readable condition. All of my other comics were crumpled, stripped, torn, looked over, and packed around until they disintegrated, but this one punched my seven year old brain in the mush and told me to keep it around.
C'mon—look at that cover! How could that ginger just take Superman OUT? Why is the Le
FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2013 is this Saturday, May 4th!
It's a national comic book holiday, celebrating the medium and welcoming new readers to the fold. Comics publishers team up with shops and retailers across the country, offering a selection of FREE books. These range from samplers of existing material to all new stories produced by top talent.
I have two stories in Dark Horse Comics' FCBD offering this year --
Taking a cue from Earwolf's "Analyze Phish" podcast, Dustin Weaver and I started a new roadtrip tradition we've unofficially dubbed "Analyze ____" (until we get more creative, because god knows we're anything but). We build playlists around bands that the other person is either indifferent toward—or outright against—in order to convince the target that they're wrong.
Dustin fired the first round with "Analyze Guided by Voices". I never disliked GbV, but
I'm still here! My summer workload was grueling -- I came off the Mass Effect: Homeworlds series feeling really good and probably a bit cocky about how much work I could turnaround in a short time, and I got myself into some trouble. Said yes to too many things. Got to work on some really cool books with some really cool people, but I barely survived intact. Lesson learned.
Apologies to everyone for the radio silence these past months. I've been incommunicado. A bad friend. A stir-c
Ah, Seattle. Whenever I think of you, I think of grunge. And whenever I think of grunge, I think of this:
If you're in Seattle this weekend, be sure to check out the Emerald City Comic-Con—I'll be exhibiting there, planted at Periscope Island (booth #222) alongside my creative countrymen Dustin Weaver and Ben Bates, and the rest of my Periscope Studio mates. I'll have some of my most recent books for sale, and would love to chat with any and all of you. Okay, maybe not that gu
On a mission to end her people's generations-long exile, Tali'Zorah uncovers the treachery of a central Mass Effect figure and finds herself hunted by assassins. Fleeing to the Citadel for help, she instead encounters disgust and discrimination in the most "civilized" place in the galaxy.

All that stands between him and merciless evisceration are his wits and a single, small throwing knife. Those buffalo f%@#-ers don't stand a chance!
Tomas Zenk has stopped running from his destiny. After being shown the truth of the world—that our reality is a horrible illusion built to suppress and enslave us, that its creator has abandoned this machine, and that Zenk alone has the potential to take this lost god's place—Tomas fled. He escaped from a trio of inexperienced cultists called The Claws of the Hidden Hand who sought to use his power to free humanity, from an anarchic hermit name

All Tomas Zenk wanted was to build a better life for his young daughters and reconcile with his estranged ex-wife. All of that slipped through his grasp when he was shown the truth of life—that what we know as reality is a dark and bitter illusion designed to enslave mankind, and that within him hides the power control this infernal machine and the rest of humanity along with it.

KULT #2 of 4 What we know as reality is a lie, an illusion built upon an infernal machine designed to enslave mankind. Tomas Zenk, a cynical parole officer trying to make his way in a dirty, soot-filled city, has been shown this truth and told that within him lies the potential to transcend his humanity and assume control of the prison, to replace its long missing creator and finally liberate humanity.

Hot on the heels of our last spectacular collaboration (and by that I mean, two years later), the EuroWestern "They'll Bury You Where You Stand!", Dustin Weaver and I are crafting another masterpiece. L'Enfant D'Etoiles

What we know as reality is a lie—an illusion built to enslave us constructed upon an unearthly machine of incalculable proportion, created by the malevolent Demiurge and overseen by a hierarchy of waking horrors. For thousands of years it’s been the perfect instrument of human enslavement … until now. The Demiurge is gone, presumed dead, and the war to take his place is underway, collapsing the barrier between humanity and the evil forces that control
I should've done this years ago. After toiling in the iWeb slums for the last few years, thinking I'd somehow miraculously develop the coding and design skills needed to make those templates look less than amateur, I've leaped into the late Oughties and converted everything over to Blogger.
Well, not everything. I'm still migrating information from the old site, but I don't expect all of it to make it. We'll see....
