If you are familiar with any of Jerry Baker's books, videos, or public tv shows, you know the man is a gardening enthusiast (it's infectious!), a font of helpful information, and somewhat of a fussy perfectionist. The last thing he would do is suggest something that is going to hurt your plants.

Many of Jerry Baker's homemade formulas are in concentrated form, intended to be used in a 20 gallon hose-end sprayer, which greatly dilutes the spray. Virtually all hardware and garden stores carry these hose attachments.

(In regard to a previous negative reviewer:-) First, if you spray any concentrated solution you purchase at a garden store directly onto your plants, I guarantee you will burn them to the ground. Second, if you don't know that a hose-end sprayer is a quart jar you attach to the end of your hose, and you can't manage to describe that to store employees to the extent they realize what you are looking for, then maybe you should have someone drive you to the grocery store and just get your vegetables there.

This is a wonderful and practical book. I tried two of the receipes in the book and had instant improvement in the appearance of my indoor and outdoor plants. I will be getting several copies for my gardening friends and family.

If you want to have the best "buds" on the block , I "highly" recommend this gem of a book.

Jerry baker is a master of garden secrets. And these are secrets that you will not find anywhere else.

In this book, Jerry gives tips on planning the layout of your garden, composting, soil improvement, watering, and even what to do in the fall after your harvest is done. In the back of the book, he also gives several "tonics" that you can mix up for everything from pests to feeding your garden or lawn.

I was more than fulfilled in reading this fine book. Answers I have needed are all supplied with great common sense. I was so thrilled to have it in my library of books.I bought more for gardening friends. Brides need a copy and people who wish to grow things without problems they cannot solve. If there were a 10 Star rating I would do ten.

I liked it a lot. Lots of good, down to earth information and easy to find solutions.

This answers everything from selecting a plant to pests and problems.

I bought this book through the mail and I wont tell you how much I spent on it. It really does have some interesting facts. A lot of repetitive ideas that can be confusing some times. Some of the tonics and things that I tried made my garden worse. In fact, it burnt some of my plants to the ground! Some of his recipes are confusing. Such as: he recommeds everything in this 20 gallon hose end sprayer. I went to many garden centers and everyone laughed at me. Nobody carries anything that large. that is for a garden the size of Texas! Who are these people that the tonics worked for? Come to my house and help me, then.

If you want the extra edge to make your yard the envy of the neighborhood, or you are looking for a home remedy for a pesky problem or to give your plants a big boost from ordinary to extraordinary, then I recommend you add this book to your library.

I've watched Jerry Baker during public television pledge drives and now came across this book. I've always been intrigued on how he can use simple ingredients like beer, laundry or dish soap, and other common household items into a plant food that seemingly will rival anything the commercial makers like Scotts may have on the market. The problem for amateurs is how th make the measurements work in a hosed-based plant feeder. But here is where Jerry shines. He gives the recipes and the directions on what exactly to do.

He also covers various types of plants in various settings. Any gardener should be willing to give Jerry's advice a try before they commit to other types of expensive fertilizers.
