4.0 out of 5 stars Dynamic movie music from a great movie composer., December 26, 1998

This review is from: Jerry Goldsmith: Frontiers (Film Score Re-recording Anthology) (Audio CD)
Jerry Goldsmith has done it again. He has had a long career writing scores for movies and television shows. This album presents his music at its finest. Dramatic, exciting, romantic music, in all kinds of styles - all suited to the events unfolding on the screen. Goldsmith is at his best writing music for science fiction stories. His scores deepen the experience. They get to the heart of the story viscerally, and take you places you never expected to go. Great music, great album.

5.0 out of 5 stars superb compilation, August 14, 2005

This review is from: Jerry Goldsmith: Frontiers (Film Score Re-recording Anthology) (Audio CD)
Back in 1997, Jerry Goldsmith got together with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and released this CD of all his science fiction hits up to that point. Star Trek gets three apperances with "The Enterprise" from Star Trek: the Motion Picture (my favorite cue of Film score, ever), the main title to Star Trek: Voyager and the end credits to Star Trek: First Contact, which was his most recent star trek score at the time. In addition, the main titles to Total Recall and Capricorn One are good addition, and of course the end titles to Twilight Zone: The Movie and Alien. Lesser known works such as Damnation Alley and Logan's Run make appearances as well.

This is a great collection, and is still great 8 years later. Be sure to also check out "40 Years of Film Music: Jerry Goldsmith" recently released by Silva America as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Master Blaster, March 9, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Jerry Goldsmith: Frontiers (Film Score Re-recording Anthology) (Audio CD)
This is a fine compilation conducted by the composer himself, so the performances are authoritative and in some cases better than the originals. Goldsmith fans probably already have most of the Star Trek music on the original soundtrack recordings, but the brilliant music from Logan's Run, Capricorn One and Alien are hard to find, so this album will fill those gaps nicely. Thank you Jerry Goldsmith for adding so much class to the movies over the years. Nobody does it better than Hollywood's grande veteran of film scoring.
