Jerry Jeff breaks his own mold and does a great job.
This ain't Rock or Country or Balladeering
Go out and buy a copy of Chet Baker "Let's Get Lost: The Best of Chet Baker Sings". Listen to JJ's early influence. Compare the 9 songs common to each CD. He's actually taken the songs up a notch or two. You'll see why Jerry Jeff rocks (jazzes??)

Great music and band back up! True, heartfelt and raw voice of Jerry Jeff makes this a hit. I have purchased 7 copies for my friends and keyboard teacher!

I've probably been to as many JJ shows as you have, and own every album he ever made and probably some you've never heard of and I certainly have an appreciation for his music. He does a lot of excellent stuff, but once you've heard Redneck Mother live 500 times, and four times in one week in Belize it becomes clear that sometimes the artist ain't always about the art. I'm as big a JJ fan as anybody, but this one just ain't very exciting.
