Top Notch Harmonica,
By
This review is from: Jerry Murad's Harmonicats - Greatest Hits/Cherry Pink & Apple Blossom White (Audio CD)
I was given this album for Christmas last year. I had both albums on vinyl when they were released in the late 50's and early 60's. When I played it, I couldn't believe my ears. This is one case where it sounds better with age. Listen to the bass in 'Peg Of My Heart' and 'Galloping Comedians'. Probably the best albums to come from Columbia in this era. Highly recommended if you like harmonicas.

The Harmonicats Greatest Hits,
By peter krampert (eharmonica.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jerry Murad's Harmonicats - Greatest Hits/Cherry Pink & Apple Blossom White (Audio CD)
The Harmonicats were arguably the most popular instrumental band to ever make records. Assembled in Chicago during the 1940's, the group consisted of Jerry Murad on lead harmonica, Al Fiore on chord harmonica and Don Less on bass harmonica. They cut their first record in 1947, "Peg O' My Heart". Partially to to a musician's strike that year, The harmonicats recieved an amazing amount of airplay. Harmonica players weren't considered to be musicians by the musician's union and so the Harmonicats had one of the few records that could be played on the radio during the strike. The song would go on to become the best selling record of the year and eventually became one of the ten best selling single records of all time.Their greatest hits album contains "Peg O' My Heart" and other hits that the group cut. Some feature only the trio, some feature Jerry Murad playing with instrumental backgrounds. The records with the trio are a joy to listen to. The band's popularity spawned hundreds of harmonica trios and it is a unique sound that I thoroughly enjoy listening to. The Harmonicats were certainly among the best of their genre. If you're a harmonica fan, this album is a definite must-have for your collection.

Jerry Mrrad's Harmonicats - Greatest Hits/Cherry Pink & Apple Blossom White,
This review is from: Jerry Murad's Harmonicats - Greatest Hits/Cherry Pink & Apple Blossom White (Audio CD)
It's Wonderful and likeable. I like music of this kind, only with harmonics(like Jerry Murrad and Jonnhy Puleo).
