Wow, a Diet Even I Can Do!!,
By
This review is from: The Jerusalem Diet: The "One Day" Approach to Reach Your Ideal Weight--and Stay There (Hardcover)
I read this book during the Christmas break in order to start my annual, "Lose my fat belly" diet, which I've faithful started, and failed, for the past 5 years.
I was so excited about trying this I started on Dec. 26th. As of today, Jan 7th, I've lost 8 pounds!! (Which is far more than Ted's recommended goal of just 1 pound a week.) The two biggest weaknesses, for me, are overeating and eating big meals after 7 pm. (Both are responsbile for slaying many of my past diets!) But with this, I'm not so hungry I lose control because I've learned to eat a handful of grapes instead of a bowl of ice-cream and I've learned that even a LITTLE exercise is better than none, so no more self-loathing and regrets. (And if you fail one day, Pastor Ted teaches you how to get up the next day and pick up where you left off.) Pastor Ted's boyish enthusiasm, quick wit, and contagious positive attitude will make this the BEST diet you ever tried! (It's more of a lifestyle modification than a "diet.") Try it! The only thing you have to lose is that blubber! :-)

I sat down and in one day read the whole book. It is exactly what i needed. You weigh yourself everday at the same time and keep track of the weight. your goal is to loose slow so that it stays off. On so called fat day you diet. on days that you have maintained your weight lose you don't diet. Simple as that. Get the book read it and you will come to understand how all those people you see eating in the same places that you do and eating the same thing that you are but they look slim and healthy and you don't. I can't wait to start my Jerusalem Diet.

The Jerusalem Diet by Haggard,

This is an excellent regimen for dieters everywhere. It can
serve as a standalone protocol or a supplemental one. The highlights are as follows: - purchase a scale and determine your ideal weight goals - weigh yourself daily or at least frequently - keep a diary of your progress - eat from the 14 superfoods referenced by the author - integrate fitness into the daily routine - eat a variety of foods A sample daily diet consists of: - eggs, fruits and veggies, yogurt for breakfast - mid-morning snack of mixed nuts - salad, meat sandwich, veggies and carbs for lunch - graize on nuts and carrots in the afternoon - fruits and veggies, nuts, seeds and water or seltzer for dinner In addition, exercise daily! This approach seems to be sound. If adopted, check with your health care provider. I've tried parts of this regimen with some considerable success. The essence of the program is to control carbs and exercise frequently.

WOW, SO SIMPLE AND DOABLE!!!,

I did Jenny Craig and had results but they were short lived and quite expensive to maintain. I tried The Makers Diet, too restrictive for the long term. Followed Dr. Colbert's What Would Jesus Eat, also too restrictive. After that, I spent over 5 years with Weight Watchers and had tremendous results but with great effort. I had to weigh and precisely measure my food for those 5 years. I got so incredibly bored with all of that and couldn't imagine doing that for the rest of my life, UGH!! I'm only 38 and have such a long life to live still and want freedom and health and contentment with my weight!
I first heard about this plan in June 2005 from a friend and it made so much sense to me. I thought, well, there's nothing to lose (except pounds) and no financial investment (just a good digital scale). I needed a new scale anyways. So I started that day with my current weight and went for it. The next morning I went through my routine and each day that week. When my week passed and I was ready to work on the next pound, I was already down!I was amazed at the little effort I had to give and that I could just eat, reasonably, and enjoy life. There was no stress or weighing or measuring, YEAH!! I figured if it worked that first week and was pretty easy well then I would give it more time and decide if it was for me later especially after the holidays. I thought if I could survive the holidays than this was for me. In this time the book was published and I was able to read more of the details. It was an easy read with humor and light-hearted fun. I laughed quite a few times. Ted shares his own struggles and I could relate to so many. His wife, Gayle, shares also and adds a tender touch especially for women which I appreciated. I made it through with flying colors and I can share that I am now down 24 pounds and still decreasing and it's still easy and no stress!! I ACTUALLY ENJOYED THE HOLIDAYS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS! I am completely sold on the Jersalem Diet. IT WORKS! No one has to know what I'm doing and I have so much freedom to eat and enjoy my family and friends. My health has greatly improved-blood pressure and cholesterol and stamina. My strength is increasing and so is my drive to be more active. My husband and family are grateful that they no longer have to listen to or deal with my former frustrations and complaints. My kids are even sharing my results with others and love my "fat" days. That's when I exercise a little more and as a result my mood is better and I have more energy for them. My husband likes those days too :-) I have shared this with my family and plan to give The Jersalem Diet away to everyone I possibly can. I CAN ENJOY FOOD AGAIN, GO OUT TO EAT AND SO MUCH MORE! Don't wait another day, you can start it immediately. The cost of this book is such a small investment for such a big payoff! A few dollars that will change your life. I can hardly wait for the next few months to pass--I will be at my goal and still loving it! Be Blessed!

This Book is Wonderful!,

As a career dieter (about 30 years), I can say that this is the best approach I have seen yet to dieting! Of course, it really isn't a diet, it's more of a different approach to how we look at food. How wonderful to have permission to enjoy the foods we love without guilt while slowly and steadily losing the weight that has taken years to accumulate. The humorous way the material is presented also makes this book an easy and enjoyable read. Thank you, Ted, for sharing this simple but reasonable approach with us all!

At last a diet that encourages sensible eating and not starvation, counting calories, kilojoules, carbs, weighing or counting hours between meals but the pleasure of enjoying guilt free, all God's abundance. Eating - yes eating - actually eating with the simple Fat Day once a week. This book is a real inspiration.

It Works but...,
This review is from: The Jerusalem Diet: The "One Day" Approach to Reach Your Ideal Weight--and Stay There (Hardcover)
I ordered this book because I saw the article in Woman's World. I thought I was going to get more information, but it was just full of his reasoning why and what he did. Nothing is really backed by scientific reasoning, at least not in this book. This method worked for him and I'm not mad at him for sharing. I have been following the program for just two weeks and I've lost about 8lbs give or take. People are already telling me that they can see the difference. I'm a person that hates the word diet, has never been able to follow one for a full day even when I've attempted to try. This plan is good for me because one day of healthy food is a great way for me start focusing on my health. In a nutshell I wasn't really impressed with the book, easy read though, however the plan does work.

I'm NUTS About This One!,

Pastor Ted Haggard of New Life Church has given the body, literally and figuratively, a gift. With no holds barred, he tells his own story and then gently leads the reader in a sensible diet plan. A great book for the start of the new year - a lifestyle reminder more than a diet.

Doable without living in a straight-jacket,
This review is from: The Jerusalem Diet: The "One Day" Approach to Reach Your Ideal Weight--and Stay There (Hardcover)
Pastor and author Ted Haggard's diet goals are reachable. Lose weight without broadcasting your diet to everyone. Enjoy eating the foods you like. Lose one pound a week. Exercise, but not past your ability. Avoid complex diets and exercise regimens. Get fit - get healthy - have fun.
The first chapter of The Jerusalem Diet is a gem, a paean to the joys of eating: jelly beans, hamburgers, Mountain Dew, and Haagen-Daz. Then Haggard comes back down to earth and tells how, after enjoying the festive food at a conference in Jerusalem, his pants became too tight. He decided to eat the nutritious foods available in all the Israeli restaurants: seeds, nuts, fruits, and vegetables. He swam laps in the hotel pool. In one day his pants fit. Thus The Jerusalem Diet was born, those four foods and exercise, one day a week. You aim to lose only one pound a week, eating, within reason, what you like for most of the week. As the book progresses Haggard, using himself as an example, gets down to the nitty-gritty of the diet. What you are actually aiming for is to change your eating habits, slowly, so that you end up eating all those good healthy foods the other diets try to crash you onto, but still at times enjoying the conviviality and fun of delicious, but not so healthy foods. He clearly explains his diet principles step-by-step, suggests you tailor exercise to your abilities and needs, gives suggestions for breaking substance and food addictions, and looks at juicing, shopping habits, and getting good rest. Haggard amply illustrates his points with little bios from Jerusalem Dieters' experiences, from those who lost a little weight to those who lost very large amounts. There is a lot of good advice in this book. The diet is doable without forcing the dieter into a straight-jacket way of life. Many questions are considered. The book ends, "So that's it - the Jerusalem Diet...Now let's go to Dairy Queen!" (177). The Jerusalem Diet is fun to read, upbeat and encouraging. I think I'll put away my ice cream and try it. - Donna Eggett, Christian Book Previews.com

NOT WHAT IT SEEMS,
This review is from: The Jerusalem Diet: The "One Day" Approach to Reach Your Ideal Weight--and Stay There (Hardcover)
This book did not even have a sample menu. I read about the diet in a magazine and it gave you more information on a daily food plan than the book. After glancing through this book, I returned it. VERY DISAPPOINTING.
