4.0 out of 5 stars "Roy Rogers B-Western Series ... Jesse James at Bay (1941) ... Republic Pictures ", October 2, 2007
Republic Pictures present "JESSE JAMES AT BAY" (18 September 1941) (60 mins/B&W) (Fully Restored/Dolby Digitally Remastered) --- Roy Rogers (born Leonard Slye) moved to California in 1930, at the age of 18 --- played in such musical groups as The Hollywood Hillbillies, Rocky Mountaineers, Texas Outlaws and his own group, the International Cowboys --- In 1934 he formed a group with Bob Nolan and Tim Spencer called "Sons of the Pioneers" --- While in that group he was known as Leonard Slye, then Dick Weston and finally Roy Rogers --- Their songs included "Cool Water" and "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" --- They first appeared in the western "Rhythm on the Range" (1936), starring Bing Crosby --- In 1937 Roy went solo and made his first starring film in 1938, "Under Western Stars" (1938) --- He made almost 100 films --- then came television, "The Roy Rogers Show" (1951) ran on CBS from October 1951 through September 1964.

Under Joseph Kane (Director / Producer), Harry Jacobs (Short Story Author), James R. Webb (Screenwriter), William Nobles (Cinematographer), Tony Martinelli (Editor) - - - - Our story line and plot, In this fictional story, Jesse James (Roy Rogers) plays a Robin Hood role as he and the sheriff foil the efforts of the railroad and a crooked banker to cheat farmers out of their land --- in the last of his historical features, Roy plays a dual role.--- He plays both Jesse James and the identical bad-guy Clint Burns --- The case of mistaken identity causes some problems for Jesse as he gets put in jail, then accused of burning down Gabby's house --- Gale Storm plays a newspaper reporter who is trying to get the scoop on Jesse --- together she and Roy capture the James Gang --- Gale Storm and Sally Payne are actually quite funny as the lady reporters --- our King of the Cowboys wound up portraying a number of historical men of the West in his oaters --- If you liked this, you might want to catch him as "Young Bill Hickok" (1940), "Days of Jesse James" (1939), Young Buffalo Bill (1940) and "Jesse James at Bay" (1941) --- some wonderful tunes, WHERE THE RIVER MEETS THE RANGE -- JUST FOR YOU -- OLD CHISHOLM TRAIL.

This review is from: Jesse James at Bay (DVD)
Again I bought this because it was suppose to be a full length movie. Which IMDB list as 56 minutes. The cover says this runs 60 minutes. It's only 53 minutes long however, edited for TV back in the 50's
