5.0 out of 5 stars Five Stars for Jesse Powell
This is truly a wonderful CD that I enjoy from beginning to end. It's about love, for those who are on the love train. It's about many different emotions and Jesse Powell express's it beautifully and wonderfully. It is truly one of those CD's that you enjoy listening to over and over again. I purchased this CD before Jesse release his second CD and still love...

3.0 out of 5 stars need to study more
this young guy has talent, in my take given a few years of getting his feet wet or paying his dues, then and only then will he be allowed to take his place, along with real talent.

It's about many different emotions and Jesse Powell express's it beautifully and wonderfully. It is truly one of those CD's that you enjoy listening to over and over again. I purchased this CD before Jesse release his second CD and still love listening to it now. The song YOU that drawed attention to this artist was placed on this, his first album. I feel that this album did not get the credit that it deserves. But I can tell you that it is worth the purchase to have in your collection at any age.

5.0 out of 5 stars "You" gotta get this album!, November 26, 2002

Jesse Powell is perhaps THE most underrated male R&B or male singer today. I first heard of him when I heard the song "You" back in 1998. I thought his voice was incredible and the song was beautiful. I recently purchased his self-titled debut and I'm proud to say that it is very good. Of course the main highlight is the radio R&B hit "You", this one with an extended saxophone solo. But others include "Spend the Night (It's Alright)" which is reminiscent of Lauryn Hill's "Doo Wop (That Thing)." "The Enchantment Medly" is just beautiful and the second half "it's You That I Need" will amaze you with it's motown feel. His twin sisters also appear on this album with background and contributing vocals. If you never heard a song by him, then his voice can be described as a cross between Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. It's too bad Mr. Powell isn't that recognized as other male R&B artists, but this album is just beautiful and will remain playing on my stereo often.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Underrated R&B Male Ever, December 28, 1999

Kevin Moore (Cleveland, Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jesse Powell (Audio CD)
I just came online in order to find this explosive CD. I originally purchased it upon it's initial release in the beginning of '96. It was so refreshing to hear a young man with such a voice and wide array of runs and styles. It shows that he definately is working at his craft and is a true artist with true talent. The shining stars on this album include, "All Alone", which is guaranteed to bring a tear or two from your ducts, the sensual yet discreet, "If you Like What you See" and the #1 hits "All I Need", and "You". Mr. Powell touches on a plethora of musical elements. From jazz and funk to a special take on a classic love ballad, Mr. Powell shows madd vocal strength and charm as he effortlessly waves his voice across a variety of genres all in one breakthrough solo album. Jesse, in my opinion is the most underrated male vocalist on the scene right now. A voice for a new millennium.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely his best CD to date!! Even better than 'Bout It!, September 30, 1999
This review is from: Jesse Powell (Audio CD)
I must say that when I first heard this CD I fell in love with it! It definitely didn't receive the recognition that it should have. When "You" started playing on the radio I just assumed that it was from his first CD. I made it a point to let my friends know that there was absolutely nothing new about "You". I encouraged them to check out the debut CD. This one will forever be my favorite although I bought 'Bout It, it could never hold a candle to Jesse Powell.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Can This Guy Blow Or What?", October 7, 1998

Jesse Powell is the man. I bought his CD about 3yrs. ago and I'm still groovin' to it. "It's tight!" Believe me, I'm not the kind of person that compliments ones music but as for J.P., it's all good. I had the privilege to meet Jesse at a local gym and he's a down to earth kinda guy. Check out track# 2,5,6,7,8,12,13... As for his current CD, I guess it's ah-ight. Sounds like all of the new artist's that's out there. What a waste on his vocal skills... Peace, jon p.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Debut, February 2, 2006
This review is from: Jesse Powell (Audio CD)
Jesse Powell burst onto the scene in 1996 with his hit uptempo single You're All I Need. Powell was a very strong singer with an amazing tenor which was displayed in the second single a remake of Enchantment classic ballad Gloria. The CD is full of killer slow jams like You, You Don't Know and of course The Enchantment Medley where Powell kills It's You That I Need. Pick this CD up, I guartnee you won't be disapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE ME SOME JESSE POWELL, May 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Jesse Powell (Audio CD)
I THINK JESSE IS SOOO FINE AND HE'S SOOO CUTE. I LOVE ALL HIS SONGS. I BOUGHT HIS FIRST CD IN 1996 AFTER I HEARD THE SONG "YOU" ON THE RADIO. I SAW HIM WHEN HE WAS IN CONCERT A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO IN TULSA, OKLAHOMA FOR A ANNIVERSARY PARTY FOR A RADIO STATION; HE'S EVERYTHING A WOMAN WOULD WANT IN A MAN, HE'S A PERFECT GENTLEMAN. HE CAN SING TO ME ANYTIME OF THE DAY AND NIGHT. I JUST HAVE ONE WISH AND THAT IS TO MEET HIM PERSON TO PERSON SOMEDAY SOON.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK JESSE CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU IN CONCERT AGAIN. MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let me tell ya, this CD is incredible!!!, August 14, 1998
This review is from: Jesse Powell (Audio CD)
I bought Jesse Powell's CD when it was released....I'm always looking for new artists to put in my CD "Rotation" and I chose this CD because I liked the titles. I've listened to this CD for two years and never grow tired of it. His lyrics are beautiful and yes, I can relate to them. I almost like the fact that not too many people here in Seattle know of him, except a few of my friends, it's almost like it's my secret. I have anticipated a new release from him, and I'm glad to know he will soon release another. I look forward to seeing him in concert soon, for my birthday! Talk about excited! His CD has remained number ONE in my rotation! I can't wait to have another ONE!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jesse's strong voice carries this album, January 20, 2012
This review is from: Jesse Powell (Audio CD)
I remember this album when I was in the 3rd Grade. I was listening to the song, "All I Need". that was a tight song. This album showed him how he got inside a song and reach its lyrical essence. This album was also a sure fire indicator that the music scene should have been prepared for him. He put his own stamp on each song and the result is an emotionally satisfying listening experience. He had a vocal maturity beyond his youth, his unpretentious, for-real kind of personality, natural good looks, and an innate soulful approach to music. This album should have been promoted more. Remember, this was 1996.
