Modesty is not the virtue at play here.,

This is a confession of a the activities of a couple who are everything but modest: they think they can temper with the lives of a nation just because they think they mean well and because they also think they KNOW BETTER.
I am not averse to peace but what makes two who live in Paris think they will tinker with the buttons of this machine and make it work? As all Marek Halter's books, it is so well written that though essentially it is irritating, it is also a good read and lots of interesting stories about the life of a Jewish Refugee come to surface. It is, of course, dated and in the same way, a historical documment showing who generated ideas and who mobilized whom. I found it interesting and not surprising that San'a Hassan ("Enemy in the Promissed Land") was first brought to Israel by the Halters. It makes sense. Generally, the book is a catalogue of name dropping. Read it if you are particularly interested in the author or in the sad history of making Peace in this embattled land M.F. Jerusalem
