More About the Author

Michael serves as the Life Groups Pastor at Real Life Church in Santa Clarita, CA. More than anything else, he wants to help people wrestle with who Jesus is and what it means to follow him today. Michael was born and raised in a large Italian family in Tulsa, OK. He has been married to Beth since 2003, and in May 2010 they welcomed Claire into the world. If you met her, you'd tell him she is the cutest baby you've ever seen. He is a graduate of Ozark Christian College (BTh) and Fuller Theological Seminary (M.A.). In Spring 2011 he wrote Jesus in 3D, which is a popular-level introduction to Jesus and the story of God's kingdom. In the book, Michael answers such questions as: What story does Jesus fulfill? What did Jesus come here to do? Why did Jesus die? and What difference does Jesus' resurrection make? And in fall 2012 he wore moreJESUS, which takes readers on a six-week journey through Paul's letter to the Colossians.

I'm reading it for the second time because I find this little book worth doing so.

I will just mention two things that I got out of Jesus in 3D:

- I understand why the Jews rejected Jesus: they had created in their minds their own ideas of what to expect from the Messiah and Jesus didn't meet their expectations. (It's risky to create a ' mental picture' of what to expect based upon information you get; the reality can be quite different even though the information given to you was correct.)

- Father God and His son Jesus are " family men". Christians talk a lot about having a "personal relationship" with Them both, or with either of Them. DeFazio writes: "... Jesus challenges our assumption that life is about me. ..." "'...If you consider yourself to be spiritual but think your spirituality is merely a personal relationship with God, you need to reconsider. Jesus came not to restore individuals but the family (in italics) of God, and only together can we become what he has made us. ..."

I got a lot more out of Jesus in 3D.

I think it could be a good book for anyone who wants to get an easy to read overview of what is in the Bible and understand the importance of Jesus and what he was aiming to acccomplish (which he said that we should continue). Lot's of Bible verses are used.
