Very interesting book. Some with great knowledge of China and its Christian movements have found a few discrepancies, but it provides an excellent basis for understanding what is taking place in such a closed environment.
Dr Aikman's in-depth study of the underground Church of China, which dwarfs the American Christian population, is about two inches thick, and chock full of the labrynthine society of the far east.
He purposed to discover the reason for the astounding growth, naturally focusing on the well publicized persecution. From the days of the Book of Acts, popular thought has always been the Church is built on the blood of the saints.
Incredibly he discovered the reason for growth however was elsewhere. In dire need of daily encouragement, Chinese Christians have locked on to Jesus' promise of the imminent Rapture!
