5.0 out of 5 stars Best Driving Music Ever!, April 23, 2005
This review is from: Jesus Built My Hot Rod / TV Song (Audio CD)
A pure shot of adrenaline... With vocals so fuzzy and incoherent that they sound like they are sung over a cheap CB radio, this song is all 1960s NASCAR. It's all about speed; the raw unadulturated power of a V8 set to music. Listening to this song while behind the wheel is a transcendental experience. As the pounding "DadaDOOMP DadaDOOMP..." of the drums drive forward, the foot cannot resist the accelerator. Soon the engine, the dashed centerline of the highway, and the spedometer needle smacking against the maximum speed peg all come into sync with the music. The driver becomes immersed in the task of driving, attuned to every aspect of his engine, and then becomes one with his engine. Man is machine, and machine is man. Jesus Built my Hotrod.

While trying to put my life together, after separation (eventual divorce) from wife (back in '93), I was listening to upbeat, bubbly, '80's stuff to make me feel better, when a friend gave me the Ministry (Psalm 69) tape, and I thought it was o.k....
Many years later (only a few short weeks ago), after all but forgetting about that tape,I was browsing thru a (well-known) discount book store, when THIS CD caught my attention. Without EVEN thinking about it, I had included this with my purchase, took it home, listened to it and Reeelly LOVED it. I found my old tape, and couldn't stop listening to ALL versions of "Jesus...". My preferred (as well as highly recommended) listening order of tracks is--3,2,1 (to me it just seems more enjoyable!
After reading some previous reviews, I had LOTS of questions answered--THANX, very much, go out to those reviewers!! I hope EVERYONE enjoys this CD as much as I have, and hope MY review helped (at least some)... TTFN! (:

5.0 out of 5 stars One great song, September 2, 2002

This is the song, the version of this song, that got me through my last year in high school. I existed in typical teenage malaise and this was one of the few songs that cheered me up EVERY time I listened to it. You can't be grumbly before morning classes after listening to someone "ding-a-ding-dang my dang-a-long ling-long." Really.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you are a MINISTRY fan, you have to have this., September 26, 1998

Simply put, this single has the REAL version of Jesus built my hotrod. The Redline/Whiteline version is by far the best. There is a slightly varied shorter edit that is different from the album edit as well. TV song SUCKS however. Still, if you liked the Psalm69 version, you will love this one... Its the real thing!

4.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Abrasive, July 26, 2002

This review is from: Jesus Built My Hot Rod / TV Song (Audio CD)
"Jesus Built My Hotrod" is one of those rare examples in rock where the song is just as good as the title. A fast and furious blend of industrial and speed metal, Al Jourgensen's single is loud, abrasive, and a whole lotta fun. We get the single edit and the 12-inch extended version. For best results, play this single at full blast while severely intoxicated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Song by a Crap Band, September 5, 2009

This review is from: Jesus Built My Hot Rod / TV Song (Audio CD)
What a great song!!! The nasal, distorted singing, the driving beat, the steel guitar player, sudden stop on a dime to spew a phrase like "Im gonna love you" or "burnout" all mesh here for a terrific outing. The secret ingredient here is Butthole Surfers singer performing with Ministry. Unfortunately this is their only collaboration. If you want this song, buy this, but be warned that Ministry without the Butthole Surfer guy sounds NOTHING like this song. Ministry is a boring, depressing, Depesh Mode copy band that does a bunch of feel sorry for yourself songs and will not sound like this song.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Ministry Must Have, August 8, 1999
This review is from: Jesus Built My Hot Rod / TV Song (Audio CD)
This is one CD that gets played all the time here - even with only 2.5 songs on it (since track 2 is a different version of track 1). JBMHR Redline/Whiteline is awesome and the alternate version of TV Song is pretty neat too! It is not near as produced as the one off of Psalm 69.
