Review from the Publisher,
By A Customer
This review is from: Life of Jesus Christ and Biblical Revelations (4 Volumes) (Hardcover)
This extraordinary work contains a day-by-day and frequently hour-by-hour account of the three years of the Public Life of Christ, actually witnessed in vision by one of the greatest mystics of the 18th century. Besides dealing with the most profound mysteries of Judaism and Christianity, the narration includes a complete life of the Blessed Mother and extensive biographies of Noah, Abraham, the ancestors of the Holy Family, John the Baptist, the Apostles, Mary Magdelene, Judas and many intimate revelations about St. Joseph, St. Anne, St. Joachim and other relatives of Our Lord. Includes an account on the Creation of the World (Astounding!) as well as a wealth of information regarding the culture, customs, architecture, geography and even the weather conditions of ancient Palestine. Describes events from the Apostle's early missionary work, plus the death of the Blessed Mother. A treasure trove of information obtainable from no other source. Seems an act of God that these visions were permitted and recorded. The tremendous detail of these unusual volumes, along with the saintly, dignified style with which the story is related, will truly inspire the reader and bring him rich spiritual rewards. "From our own deep conviction of the great advantage to be derived from the pious perusal of the work . . . we do not hesitate in its approval to add our signature " . . . James Cardinal Gibbons.

Please don't get fooled by some of the "reviews" of this book you see here. To begin with their concept of "solo sciptura" is inherently flawed. The scriptures are selected texts which were deemed by the Catholic Church to be divine. Yes the same church that is condemed by the very people shaking their "solo sciptura" at you. The bible has been translated, re-written compliled..etc first by The Church and then by others for 2000 years. The Chruch itself rejects "solo scriptura" (meaning faith by scripture alone) acknowleging the 4 Gospels as being devine writings, however the traditions that are practiced in all churches, are also considered a part of the faith. That having been said, yes these books are apocrphal, meaning outside the scriptures. Much of Christian tradition is based on apocrypha. If seeing the Passion deepend your faith, then so will the Books by Catherine Emmerich. The author notes that "only the Gospel is Gospel." However if a clearer picutre of the events in the bible as told by someone who appears to have had visions of the events can help you envision them for yourself what is the sin there. Too call this a "devils" trick is both stupid and self serving. IF the movie the Passion was a "devils" trick because much of the story is outside the words of the bible, then this book is too, because it's far more touching than the movie. If you don't think so, then these books are for you. If do think so, then fine..stay away from Catherine, St. Bridget, and Mary Agreba, and others that, IMO were given divine gifts in order for the rest of us to be helped to strengten our faith. The books by Catherine are facinating and well written. Desciptions such as those in the Garden are incredible and infitely more touching than the movie. So much is missed in the movie that the book is must reading before, during, or after seeing it. Family trees are included that help to explain much of the confusion in the Bible, such as Joesph's lineage from David, Job, Abraham, St.Anne and more. Nothing you read in the Bible is not in here, but so much of what you read is not in the Bible and supports completely what is in there. Some of it is backed up by other Apocrypha, some contradicts it. I am sure that anyone that truly is interested in their Christian faith, and in their true love and undestanding of the Bible will be deeply touched. Read it.

This review is from: Life of Jesus Christ and Biblical Revelations (4 Volumes) (Paperback)
This four volume set is an absolute must read for all Christians. The information in these four books is so amazing that you will not put them down. These books answer all critics of the bible who say that the information in it is not reliable. Bl. Anne Catherine Emmerich gives a detailed account of the ministry of Christ with a tremendous amount of information not given in the New Testament. Among the things that she reveals is Christ's journey to Cypress and his preaching the Gospel to Jews and Pagans there. When reading these four volumes you feel like you are watching a video of Christ's life with so much detailed information about people and places not mentioned in the New Testament. A detailed history of Salvation is given from the time of Adam to Mary's death. An absolute must have for your library.

Second reading,

This review is from: Life of Jesus Christ and Biblical Revelations (4 Volumes) (Paperback)
I read this book set 15 years ago, when it was in a smaller print. I was half way through when I resolved to mark the most interesting things the next time I read them (highly recommended). These books are some of the most unique reading that I have ever done. The books start with creation and the fall of man, and end with redemption, but with details that are nowhere else available. The names and relationships of many, many people are given, along with customs, dress, landscapes, colors, smells, temperatures, and many other details that are available only to one who was actually present at the time. Many times, the current state of things are compared to what they were 1900 years prior. The biggest impact of reading these books is the realization of the incredible energy that Jesus expended in teaching, exorcising devils, and curing all sorts of diseases of both body and soul; and how His enemies, the Pharisees, chose to kill Him, rather than lose their cushy, powerful and prestigious positions. The Biblical revelations are nothing short of incredible. The most interesting Biblical revelation for me is the detailed description of the contents of the Ark of the Covenant, and how one item from the Ark was used at the conception of Mary.

MUST HAVE FOR ALL DEVOUT CATHOLICS,

This review is from: Life of Jesus Christ and Biblical Revelations (4 Volumes) (Paperback)
Amazing that Sr. Anne Catherine Emmerich died in 1824, and so few have heard of her. Her visions provide a supplement to the Bible and the life of Christ with detailed imagery. The story of the loaves and fishes comes to new life and meaning, with her in depth accounts. Her descriptions of the Lord's Passion and death are said to have inspired Mel Gibson to make his movie. Understand and learn more about Mary's coming to earth and return to heaven. Don't let the price deter you; these four books will be worth it!!!

Making the Gospels Come to Life,
This review is from: Life of Jesus Christ and Biblical Revelations (4 Volumes) (Paperback)
Jesus told Anne Catherine Emmerich that she is the greatest visionary to ever walk the planet, but this did not effect her humility. She is a very holy nun who gives us a new perspective on Jesus and fills in the information the bible leaves out. For instance, the sinner who Anoints Jesus with costly perfume is Mary Magdelan, and she is the sister of Martha and Lazarous. Buy the books they are worth every penny. I am living in Germany and paid the international shipping. My order got messed up and I only received the second book. It took me a week to read it. Amazons customer service was great, they reordered the four volume set and paid the shipping, the next time I only received the first book, finally they reimbursed me and told me I could keep the two books. Hopefully they have fixed the problem by now. I am waiting for a reseller to sell the 3rd and 4th books singularly. If this doesn't happen, I plan on reordering the entire set.

I read these books 45 years ago but gave them away when we moved to another location. After finding out that "The Passion of Christ" movie was based on Catherine Emerich's cloistered life of visionary expierience, I wanted to read them again. As they had been out of print 45 years ago - I didn't expect to find them now - but God bless Amazon.Com for having them available. The details contained in the Life of Jesus Christ revealed in these documents are awe inspiring and deeply revealing to the true nature of Christ and His Mission. This knowledge balances out that of an anti-christ philosophy that one finds prevelant in today's society. I recommend them highly!

An excellent book that provides many answers,
By John Baptist "bidialmi" (Sunnyvale, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Life of Jesus Christ and Biblical Revelations (4 Volumes) (Paperback)
This book is simply great! It fills in a lot of gaps in the Bible accounts of the prophets and Jesus. The energy expended by Jesus and John the Baptist in their ministries is captured in full colour with details of places, the customs of different peoples, in rich description, which makes it all the more convincing since the visionary had never known to have been at those places or known these sitting in Germany! At the same time there is no indication of someone else of more sophisticated knowledge having written these things as her simplicity shines through at times that only serve to authenticate the book. I was particularly touched by the accounts of John the Baptist and came across with a feeling of awe for the tremendous workaholic (if you can call it that) spirit of our own Lord who never seemed to tire of doing His work. A book that will definitely deepen your faith and give wonderful and beautiful details not found anywhere else. When I first started, I found the initial accounts between creation and Abraham a little hard to believe but found that the author actually cross references the same later on in the next three books, in another period as actually influencing pagan beliefs. But the rest is such easy reading especially when trying to understand the gaps in the four Gospels. I also found the reason that the visonary "sees" for God allowing creation to continue uptil the present time from the fall of the angels very convincing. An excellent set of books worth every penny, absolutely worth reading over and over to understand the contributions of the holy men of old.

Outstanding!,

This review is from: Life of Jesus Christ and Biblical Revelations (4 Volumes) (Life of Jesus Christ & Biblical Revelations) (Paperback)
This may be, one of the most outstanding books I've ever read. The visions of a Venerable noun, a woman which life was full of suffering and misunderstanding, she has the stigmata and suffered great pains. Some kind of sickness put her on bed for many years; in the last part of her life, and for several months, she was only fed with the Holy Communion, as she was unable to receive any other kind of food. Nevertheless, she wrote one of the most extraordinary revelations, a book that complements the Holy Gospel, and bring us near Jesus, the Apostles, the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, etc.
This great work is a must for Catholics and Protestants a like, that may want to extend their knowledge of the times of Christ and His life, the Church, the Holy Mass, Heaven and hell and the times of old Palestine. Also the creation of the world is depicted, the Angels, etc. Her Book the "The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ", was the inspiration for Mel Gibson's movie "The Passion of the Christ". |
