I got this book because of the great reviews it had, however I still had my
reservations about a book about Jesus. How can anyone add anymore to what is
already known?
Charles Swindoll masterfully illustrates the life of Jesus, taking you to the
time when our God walked among us. This is a true refreshment, leading one to
take in deeply the living water called Jesus Christ.
I felt like I was there in livid detail. This is not another book about Jesus,
this is an eye peering, fantastically detailed biography, that at times reads like
a novel.
Bravo to Chuck Swindoll. I look forward to reading the other great lives of the Bible.

It should be easy to tell a good story about Jesus but Charles Swindoll is always very interesting in the way he organizes his biblical biographies. He uses images and ideas we can all understand when we are trying to open the mystery and wonder in the Bible. I loved this book and got two more to share, one just for my son to keep.

The insight into the life of Jesus in this book is amazing. You can tell that Mr. Swindoll was writing with the blessing of God. I highly reccommend it and can't wait to read others in the series.

Swindoll takes the daunting task of writing the biography of Jesus, daunting not only in his subject matter, but that it is written in the Gospels. And he handles it with finesse and grace and skill. And he mixes in quite a bit of Christian theology as well. The total package is great for the seeker or the seasoned believer.

This is the ninth and final biographical book from the best-selling Great Lives From God's Word series. The book was released just approximately two years ago, and I received it as a gift last Christmas. It is the sixth book in the series I have read, and like the other books in the series, it is loaded with Scripture. I certainly approve of that. Unlike Endo's A Life of Jesus, Dr. Swindoll's book does not contain a bunch of unorthodox theories and ideas. The 300 pager can be easily understood by someone who knows very little about Christ yet still be very beneficial for those who have been living their lives for Christ for many years.

"The Greatest Gift of All: Jesus" is the latest (last?) in the Great Lives From God's Word series by Charles Swindoll. The book is around 300 pages and contains 20 chapters, some of which include the following:

1. Resting in Christ - do not try to strive in your own flesh, let God work in and through you instead.
2. It Is Best To Rest - similar content to the above. #1 and #2 were my personal favorite chapters.
3. Abiding In Christ - learn to stay close to Christ and let Him produce His fruit through you.
4. The Gathering Storm - after a while, opposition started to build against Jesus Christ. Christians can expect the same.
5. Encountering Jesus Along Life's Road - Jesus can work wonders in your life if you let Him!

These are just a few samples of the chapters and their respective focus.

As with his other books, Swindoll has a way of combining theology with practical application.

Read, enjoy, and be encouraged. Highly recommended!

Great book. Love the author. Chuck Swindoll has a way of making things very easy to understand and relate to! Love his work.

This is really a great book about the life and person of Jesus. I would not call it biography but rather an extended bible study on Jesus. It is well researched and really bible based. It is totally along my line of faith and I would recommend it to any any Christian no matter if new or mature. I sure will read it more than once!

I ordered two of these to share with my children. I have given another one as a gift. If you like history and have a desire to learn more about the Christian faith and the early church, I encourage you to read this book. I plan to read all of Chuck Swindoll's books in the Great Lives series.

I truly enjoyed reading this book. It is quite objective and you feel you are learning a lot about the context in which our Lord lived. I personally liked it better than the book on Jesus from P. Yancey. However I liked better the one from Beth Moore. I would recommend the book from Chuck to men and the one from Beth to women - just a perception, though.
