5.0 out of 5 stars ASTOUNDING!, December 22, 1999

I'm not even sure if astounding can describe this great album.I found this CD used and bought it after reading the reviews that were already here, and you guys were right on the mark. This has to be one of the most over-looked albums,(and bands)of all-time.The entire album has such a refreshing sound to it,it's nice to hear a band that actually cares about their music, not just the music buisness."Your socks have no name"is my favorite Tripping Daisy song of all time, and is just one of the great songs on this CD.I just don't know how else to put it,if you appreciate good music, then you have to pick up this album. It is far better than "I am an elastic firecracker",which is also a great album.Much recommended!

P.S.,if you like smaller bands like Tripping Daisy, check out my other favorites,Spacehog, and Self. Thanks!

hyperbole can't begin to do it justice... this isn't just a good album, it is the music of a new world and a new philosophy as old as our species - the first philosophy. Contentment, excitement, play, joy, self-confidence, love, and deep, abiding connection spread by honesty... my words don't begin to touch how much I've changed and seen my helpmates change because of this band and this album.

Golly! I sound so earnest! Life is HILARIOUS! I am healed, but there was never anything wrong. I am whole, and so are you! The world will change when we all are reborn like cartoon firebirds as the shiny, absurd, strong, hapless magical beautiful geniuses we are.

Get this album and listen to it over and over and over and read the lyrics over and over and over and absord the AMAZING booklet art and stop being so cynical and love your friends until your heart aches.

Tim DeLaughter is the voice of your inner child! AND SO ARE YOU! also buy the beginnings of the polyphonic spree (... because) it's where the boys went after TD and it's stunning.

"'cause all you ever wanted was the truth: it's always the same when you walk and you breathe - you walk into me!"

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best of all time., November 19, 2000
This review is from: Jesus Hits Like the Atom Bomb (Audio CD)
This cd is amazing. Tripping Daisy created the best record of their lives with JHLTAB. In fact it is so good that mainstream radio couldn't and wouldn't have dared to play it. All the tracks are great like "mechanical breakdown" and "tiny men" and "sonic bloom" but this album needs to be listened to as a whole piece of work. The best advice would be to buy this cd then listen it a hundred times in row then stop listening to it for about a month then just pop it back in your player again. You will be amazed.... and taken to a different world...that only tripping daisy can create. The hype of Radiohead's "Kid A" was outdone two years before itself when Tripping Daisy released Jesus Hits Like the Atom Bomb. This recording breaks the mold of their "I got a girl" radio friendly hit and raises the bar of music itself. Island records didn't quite know how to handle this recording when they got it back in 1998 and consequently they promoted it badly. That is why it got little radio play and it remains an underground hit for real music fans. Tripping Daisy was headed in the right direction with JHLTAB and sadly the journey ended long before it was over. The music lives on...buy this record if you really appreciate music and be surprised with every listen...also check out their self-titled and final release, it is also amazing. Thanks Tripping Daisy...
