Or maybe because we have never been told about it. This book takes all our misconceptions about Jesus' personality and throws them out the window. If you want to imagine a real, human Savior who knew how to love and enjoy life, read this book and see a Jesus you were never taught about. Thanks!

What a life-changing read! Sherwood Wirt stirs the hunger and passion in your heart with the LOVE and JOY that comes from getting to know JESUS, and clearly unveils the secret so long hidden.

I really enjoyed this book, after all, Sherwood Wirt is the ultimate expert on JOY! Bruce's introduction was just as wonderful.

Commonly believed to be of a serious demeanor, this book will change your opinion of Jesus Christ. Tapping Scripture throughout, the author gives you a clear, concise picture of Jesus during His ministry... laughing, smiling, loving! Never did I think I would change my firmly rooted concepts of my Lord and Savior but this has completely done so. Originally, I watched "The Gospel According to Matthew" and could not wrap my mind around Jesus smiling or laughing in some of the Gospel stories. I followed that up with the "Matthew" actor's (Bruce Marchiano) "In the Footsteps of Jesus" and was blessed with the actor's experiences during the filming. In "In the Footseps of Jesus", Marchiano cited "Jesus, Man of Joy" which I ordered. It was phenomenal! Great volume although it's out of print and hard to come by. Worth the read without doubt!

Sherwood Wirt translated Augustine's "Confessions" into modern language, producing one of the English language's most beautiful volumes. Search for it here on Amazon; there are still some used copies available.

Wirt was also the last journalist to interview C.S. Lewis before his death. From this encounter Wirt has written useful articles and constructed materials for several courses on Lewis and his writings.

Here, in "Jesus" Wirt is at his best: elegant prose, his ideas expressed with a clarity and simplicity of language that is a joy to read. Anyone wanting a fuller picture of the "Man of Sorrows" will find it here, in this vibrantly written picture of the joyous heart of God's own Son.

Recommended Reading --- as is any volume by this gifted author!

It has been quite a few years since the Matthew videos came out with Bruce Marchiano. We enjoyed them so much, so great to see a Jesus who smiled and laughed. The book Jesus, Man of Joy, was the book he searched for til he found it, to read to prepare him to play the part. This same Jesus can bring joy to each of us.

Loved the book! Was a Joy to read and was very interesting. Glad someone took time to write a book about how happy and joyfull the Lord is.
