Book Description

December 25, 2000
In Jesus is a Myth, author Zain Winter takes us on a journey through time and around our planet to visit humankind's most sacred archaeoastronomical sites where rulers of empires and ancient priests connected themselves to the heavens and communed with the gods. He illustrates how every religion had its origins very early in human history and how belief systems emerged from humankind's need to understand and interpret the celestial and terrestrial forces that governed their lives. Zain Winter explains how Christianity is in essence, a more elaborate and structured form of ritual worship inspired by ancient sky and earth stories therefore making Jesus Christ is the central figure of Christian mythology.

Jesus is a Myth introduces the sciences of Archaeoastronomy and Mythology to the layperson and explains how these sciences are keys to open the door of ancestral unity among all nations. The first chapter shows our early ancestors developing into Ice Age Astronomers and how the traditions of celestial illumination they founded were carried onto humankind's earliest civilizations. Next, The Genesis of Myth shows our ancestors creating more complex communities created more elaborate systems of deity worship and the early foundations of organized religion. In The Bond Between Heaven and Earth, we are transported to the most well known archaeoastronomical locations around the world. There we learn that monumental structures, like the Pyramids in Egypt and Stonehenge, were constructed to make a tangible connection to the heavens in order to grant rulers access to the divine. Next Religions True Origin, we are shown how most world religions have early celestial origins and astronomical themes. The final chapter, The Sky is Falling, reveals how doomsayers of the new millennium have nothing to fear and New Agers have everything to gain from an understanding the true celestial nature of a long standing astronomical cycle.

Included in this fascinating and controversial book, is chapter on Naked Eye Observing so everyone can look up and see light, a chapter on mythological stories that can be read to friends and family as they gaze at the heavens, and Sky Charts and Astronomical Data to assist them in the journey through the heavens. There's even a Timetable of Significant Events Throughout History and a Glossary to help answer some of the many questions that will inevitably come up. It's time the sciences of archaeoastronomy and mythology were embraced by the masses. Not just as scientific solutions to some of the great mysteries of human civilization, but proof of a societal link that makes us all one planetary people.

About the Author

Mr. Zain Winter is a bit of an enigma, but what we do know about this dark specter is that he was born somewhere in the Southwest United States and his book, Jesus is a Myth, is the result of a quest that began when he turned thirteen years of age.

According to Mr. Winter, in the early 1960's, one night on a trip thru an Arizona desert he experienced what is termed as "missing time." Upon returning home, he began absorbing his father's impressive library of science and metaphysical books and consulting and associating with well-known psychics. Growing within him was an overwhelming desire to investigate enigmatic and far reaching mysteries regarding the human race. For many years, Mr. Winter found no satisfying answers.

Then, at the age of twenty-six, he began to study under a rabbinical scholar who knew much about the kabbalah, the ancient ways of our ancestors, and the origins of religion. Through years of allied study, he and his teacher discovered that religious authorities had systematically suppressed parts of history. As a result of religious genocide and manifest destiny, many cultures have lost much their heritage and labor under misconceptions about their origins. The Rabbi's guidance eventually led to the scientific keystones of Archaeoastronomy and Mythology. With these tools, his quest to discover a unifying bond that would bring our planet's people together was realized. Now Mr. Winter spends much of his time lecturing, camping out under dark skies, watching the heavens and looking into the face of god.

This review is from: Jesus is a Myth : A Handbook To Reclaim Your Celestial Inheritance (Paperback)
"I always thought myth meant "untruth" or "fairytale" until I read Jesus is a Myth. Not only is myth a term of honor, it is an effective tool in connecting world cultures to one another.
The stars shine brighter for me now that I know the people of our planet all share a distinctive source of wisdom."

3.0 out of 5 stars BOOK FOR BEGINNERS, November 8, 2004
By
Wm Seven (Los Angeles CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jesus is a Myth : A Handbook To Reclaim Your Celestial Inheritance (Paperback)
I enjoyed Jesus is a Myth because it is designed as a handbook for the amateur historian and stargazer. Rather than having to read a laborious 343 page text book about the origins of astronomy and religion, this work begins with a conceptual overview using uncomplicated language in the first 110 pages. The bulk of the book appears in later sections providing more in-depth explanations of the opening text. I also took pleasure from the many uncomplicated illustrations used to clarify the archaeo-astronomical concepts to the layperson. Furthermore, I liked how the slightly larger type was used to make for easier reading out under the stars. It's clear this work is intended for those who have never read anything on the subjects of world mythology and prehistoric astronomy.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Noble Effort, September 11, 2003

This review is from: Jesus is a Myth : A Handbook To Reclaim Your Celestial Inheritance (Paperback)
?Jesus is a Myth? is written in simple terms and language and serves as an introduction to the cultural connection of the heavens we humans share. Even though it is not a literary masterpiece, it delivers a better understanding of the sacred nature of the skies, and the need for religious pluralism through the science of archaeoastronomy. I found the sky charts and supplemental text most informative.
