This is not only good book, but also a really good example, how to preach Christ in simple, honest and clever way!

Phillip Yancy does a superb job of bringing the reader face to face with Jesus Christ from a fresh perspective. As Pastors, we must understand the culture we live in to minister to that culture effectively (in the world not of the world). Yancy effectively views the life of Christ from that perspective!

This book, by Phillip Yancey, has really touched my heart. He expresses with such impact the Jesus that died on the cross. He talks about the Beatitudes in a way you may have never thought about before. He is not shy about talking about his own sins and how he personally approaches temptations. Read this book if you want to find the only physical description of Jesus in the Bible.

This book is awesome. It will change the way you think about Jesus and how you relate to Him. It's great with the bible study book but plenty can be learned by the book alone. Loved it and will keep it forever!

The book was very good in setting the stage for what many may believe now, but have not considered what the life style, politics and social issues at the time Jesus was born. Some excellend "what if" questions or statements to think about that or what you have read with some challenge as comparison to now. I would say this is an excellent book for all denominations, religions or even cults to open their eyes and give some insight on the times then and now. Easy reading, just some is thoughtful.

Yancy is a writer of depth always with some surprises. He is a serious student/scholar. He digs for truth wherever he can find it.

From a Catholic standpoint, one of the best works I have ever read on the relationship you want to have and should have with our Lord Jesus Christ.

this may have been a good book, if the correct one had been sent. i was unable to get this corrected by writing to the vender. i do not recommend this vendor.
