About the Author

Louis Charles is a web publisher and writer who focuses his work toward understanding spiritual truth. A husband and father of three children, Louis at one time served as an elder, Bible teacher, deacon, and occasional preacher within a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregation. For over thirty years, he has been searching for the truth concerning who we are and our place within the grand scheme of things. One might say he loves attempting to figure out the big puzzle we call life.

More About the Author

Louis Charles was born in Canton, Ohio and raised in a small farming community nearby. While growing up, he always had a fascination with ghosts and spirits.

Through various careers, Louis Charles honed his skills in sales, marketing, speaking, and invention. He never lost his passion to learn more about spiritual things, including ghosts and haunting.

In 2004, he launched the website Angels & Ghosts in order to better study ghosts and spirits. By using the submissions he received from around the world, Louis began comparing potential evidence shared in stories, images, videos, and audio recordings. He also worked with countless others on field tests, investigations, and experiments in spirit communication in an attempt to sort the false away from the real. For the book Helping Ghosts, Louis conducted investigations with different paranormal groups and psychics to further test theories about ghosts, also evaluating metaphysical concepts he found enlightening. His approach to ghosts and haunting comes from a place of compassion and "no fear."

Today, Louis Charles continues to investigate cases of haunting, experimenting with new methods to make contact with spirits. A husband and father of three, Louis has been searching thirty years for the truth behind who we are in the grand scheme of things. He thoroughly enjoys contemplating the puzzle of life over a good cup of coffee.

I remember as a small boy listening to a preacher saying that "some of you think you are Christians....but if you died tonight you will go to hell."

Someone on a Yahoo group I'm on told me about the book "Jesus Religion" by Louis Charles. I checked out the author (listened to a pretty long radio interview with him and befriended him on Facebook) and decided the book was worthy of a read. I just finished reading it and I think it is a very good book.

The book examines the illogical and inconsistent teachings of what has become traditional Christianity. Louis Charles takes us through a brief history of how we got the Bible we have, how the hell doctrine arose, how Jesus was deified by the early church fathers, etc. For someone like myself who has been on a truth quest about these things for close to a decade now there's not much shocking here. I found the book to be similar to several written by former fundamentalist Christians who have realized that just doesn't make sense to them anymore. That doesn't mean the book isn't original or worthwhile. We each have our own story to tell and, of all the authors I've read, Louis may be the one whose story is closest to my own. Not only does the religion most of us have been taught not make sense. But, it's actually debilitating, fearful, life-sucking religion.

I agree with Louis on most of his points. The Bible isn't what most Christians think it is. The doctrine of Hell is a man-made invention (politically motivated) to keep the masses in line. The man people worship as G-d in the flesh wasn't named Jesus Christ. His name was more like Yeshua. And, I think He'd be shocked and disappointed to see what is being done in His name today. But, the tone of the book, to me, was just a little over-the-top in condemning Christianity and church.

I LOVED this book! The author went into great detail as to 'how and where' all of the traditions of Christianity began, and why they have lead thousands upon thousands down the 'broad' path of 'religion'....a very destructive path.... rather than encouraging them to seek to know God for themselves, as well as who we ALL are in Him. This book is a great read...laid out very simply and easy to grasp. If I was a writer, and I am not...I would have written it myself! I don't think that you will be disappointed by it. WARNING: There are some "sacred cows" that get slaughtered here...so be prepared!

Bought and just finished reading the kindle version. Very well put. I had a subjective suspicion even as a pentacostal pastor/preacher that we just were not 'getting' something. We cried be free in Jesus to others while feeling bound within ourselves. Lips cried 'truth' but our heart felt the lie. Thanks.

This was an excellent read. It explores one mans passion for truth and how nothing stood in the way of it. It is packed with historical facts and has many eye opening revelations, that may just blow you away. If anyone is hungry for more than what "church and or religion" has to offer they should read "Jesus Religion" , because there is more to know and exciting things are ahead for those who do.

Louis Charles obviously put a serious look and study into this work. I couldn't put the book down once I started reading it. I have struggled for years trying to decipher what I learned in the church walls as being accurate or perhaps a test of wills and control; this book spelled it out cleanly and thoughtfully.

I admire Mr. Charles for having the strength to present his wisdom to the world in this format. The book while sounding controversial is very sensitive and does teach truth from a historical and cultural standpoint. I give this book an A+

I found this book on the web and after reading I can certainly relate to much of what the author has to say. I had lived in fear from childhood. I remember as a small boy listening to a preacher saying that "some of you think you are Christians....but if you died tonight you will go to hell." Most of my Christian experience has been lived in fear. I have an MA in Theology and many Christian theologies just didn't make sense to me. So I studied! The sense of freedom that comes from knowing that the Spirit is already within you is rewarding at best. Religion is misguided and and if you can, a rethinking of its foundations need to be re-examined.

Like looking in a mirror. LC also reflects my story as I had to battle my
own pre-conceived ideas about God. I too came to believe that the only way one can stumble and Fall from God is to trip over the man-made obstacles of Religion. Send copies of this book to anyone you know who is still struggling. LC, I give your book 5 stars. Thank you for it, keep on writing.
