Van Bruggen represents the best of German conservative scholarship. He interacts with recent American & German scholarship. If only all Germans were as clear thinking as he! Not all of Bruggen's work convinces but he offers fresh analysis of theological questions (his treatment of the 'Son of Man' issue is superb). This little book is excellent for its price and should be consulted side-by-side with the portrait of Jesus by Tom Wright and even perhaps Ed Sanders. H.S Bultmann |
