Book Description

0895819465 978-0895819468 September 1, 1991
This investigative work explores the Eastern legend that upon crucifixion, Jesus did not in fact die on the cross but was taken secretly to India, where he lived to a ripe old age and eventually died. The tomb Rozabal, which is located in the proximity of Srinagar, the capital city of the northern state of Kashmir, India, is claimed to be that of Jesus. The book also examines two other important Eastern legends dealing with the death and resurrection of Jesus, those of the shroud of Turin and the holy miracle light of Jerusalem. The book should be of great interest to a wide variety of readers, including religious historians, theologians and common readers, Christian as well as non-Christians.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book that shoud be read by believers and others, April 11, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Jesus' Tomb in India: The Debate on His Death and Resurrection (Paperback)
The book is about fact-and-legend based material on the life of Jesus. The author discusses and analyses the gospels along with local tradition from ancient Palestine all the way to Kashmir India. The main theme of the book is that the alleged tomb of "Jusasef the Prophet" located in Shrinegar, Kashmir should be investigated in order to verify whether it belongs to Jesus Christ who, according to the Koran and local tradition, did not die on the cross but fled to Kashmir to teach to the lost tribes of Israel

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, thought provoking, but poor judgment, March 22, 2000

This review is from: Jesus' Tomb in India: The Debate on His Death and Resurrection (Paperback)
1. Interesting: different perspectives have been collected nicely and makes the reader inquisitive. 2. Thought Provoking: as it addresses a very crucial and sensitive subject dear to about half of the world population. Did Jesus die on the cross or not? Key question is being addressed. 3. Poor Judgment: Firstly, the author was unable to separate Khwaja Nazir's work from Mirza Ghulam Ahmad's work. Many places he tends to mix up his comments. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Started Ahmadiyya Movement. Khwaja Nazir wrote an independent book as one of his followers who later separated from MIrza Ghulam Ahmad's group and joined the splinter group. While making remark abour Nazir's work, he stereotypes all Ahmedis by saing Ahmadiyya stance. Secondly: Just because Mirza Ghulam Ahmad's work presented in Jesus in India has substantial data from authentic Eastern sources and literary works, Pappas has considered it almost invalid or unauthentic. If The tomb lies in the East, how one could reject the info from the neighboring sites located around the Kashmir area, just because it is not written by Westerners. P. Beskow has done the same mistake as has been pointed out correctly by James Deardorff. Both Pappas and Beskow consider the wealth of info presented by most authentic sources of East as unacceptable as it was not initiated from the west. Very poor judgment indeed. One must be objective and analytical in one's approach while evaluating the material on scholastice merits rather than origin of the person. History reveals tha all teh current advancement in Mathematics and sciences did not start in the west rather they originated from Muslims like Algebra, Alchemy, AlHikmat etc. Let the readers judge for themselves.
