I had been looking to upgrade my dust collection system with a higher efficiency cartridge (2 micron) for quite some time. I have been putting it off because my Jet Dust Collector is an older model. It is a DC-610 and I could never find an upgrade kit that indicated that it would support my DC-610. I saw this filter on Amazon and started digging into the specifications. Cross referencing it with the dust collection specifications from various Jet web sites, what I found was that my older Jet DC-610 matched the dimensions (14") and horse power (1hp) of the newer DC-650. The newer Jet DC-610 dimensions were smaller than the unit I had. I called product support for the canister filter and they concurred that it should fit. I decided to order it. When it arrived I removed the upper bag and installed the filter on my older dust collector. The filter fit perfectly. The canister filter came with a foam rubber seal already installed in order to assure an air-tight fit. I did need to add some support to the filter side of the dust collector. I then replaced the bottom bag wiht a clear plastic one. I was happy that I finally had finally upgraded to a 2 micron canister filter on my system. I then turned it on. I could not believe the difference in the increased airflow at each dust collection station. I was expecting some difference but not to the degree that I experienced. The March 2008 issue of Wood Magazine has a great article on dust collectors and the efficiencies gained by installing a 2 micron cartridge filter. I am completely satisfied with this purchase and the quality and performance of this filter. It was worth every penny. I just wish I had figured this out sooner.

Bought to improve the working conditions in my small basement shop and as an upgrade for my existing, realatively new, 1HP 650cfm collector, adding this filter boosted the performance of the system a great deal. It was as if another 1/2HP was added to the collector.

I purchased this cannister filter as an "upgrade" for my DC-650. The regular price was $142, but I got it on sale for $112. No tax and no shipping through AMAZON. Can't beat the deal. The running noise level went up slightly, but well worth the obvious additional airflow and lower airborne dust. I recommend this fliter to everyone with a JET DC-650.
