Book Description

The second book in the Marked Men series from Jay Crownover - a sizzling story of love, lust and longing

With his tight leather jeans and a sharp edge that makes him dangerous, Jet Keller is every girl’s rock and roll fantasy. But Ayden Cross is done walking on the wild side with bad boys. She doesn’t want to give in to the heat she sees in Jet’s dark, haunted eyes, but even his touch sets her on fire.

Jet can’t resist the Southern Belle with mile-long legs in cowboy boots who defies his every expectation. Yet the closer he feels to Ayden, the less he seems to know her. While he’s tempted to get under her skin and undo her in every way, he knows first hand what happens to two people with very different ideas about relationships.

Will the blaze burn into an enduring love… or will it consume their dreams and turn them to ashes?

1.0 out of 5 stars liked Rule... but this is not worth your time June 13, 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Read Rule - this is so similar in many ways but without the depth. Ended up skipping chapters and only kept going because...
    one: I had bought it
two: it surely has to get better and
three: it was well rated - would not recommend!

3.0 out of 5 stars Oh how I wanted to love this book... June 4, 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved rule. I loved Shaw. I kept skimming through the paragraphs hoping to hear more of their story. Jet was a little too sensitive for me I like my bad boy to be a real bad boy that can change. All us ladies wanna change the bad boy and jet was a little on the soft side. I will keep an eye out for Rome though and hopefully it has one heck of a preview. Unfortunately jet you will be banished to the make believe shelf in library full of other 3 star mediocre novels and Rule you will stay on the reread shelf.

    3.0 out of 5 stars 3 FRUSTRATING Stars!!! September 1, 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
    3 FRUSTRATING Stars!

5 Stars for Jet. I loved him!
1 Star for Ayden. She drove me nuts!
    Equals 3 overall Stars!

OH BOY! Where to start with this very frustrating story. To say I struggled to keep my temper under control while reading this book is an understatement! I spent most of the story feeling the need to completely and utterly smack the heroine. I guess after that statement it's pretty obvious WHO became my main issue throughout this book...that's right...it was the heroine, Ayden.

I really liked the first book in this series, Rule and had high hopes that Jet would be just as good. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case and the heroine, Ayden, was mostly to blame. I knew before starting this story that many readers had issues with her character, but I figured she couldn't be THAT bad. Oh, how wrong I was! She was that bad and more! I found her nearly impossible to like. Up until the last 10% of story, she was self-centered, self-serving, and self-pitying. Basically, the girl took self wallowing to a whole new level. Simply put, Ayden and her ridiculous sub-plot ruined a great portion of this book for me. By the time she finally came around and truly shined as a character, it was a simple case of too little, too late.

That said, I absolutely adored and loved everything about Jet. He was sexy, charismatic, and delicious. I loved him every bit as much as Rule. Unfortunately, he wasn't enough to fully save this book for me. Still, the ending was sweet and left me with a HUGE smile on my face. I'm very excited for Rome's book. I have high hopes for that one! Fingers crossed.

Was a little slow. Didn't capture me like Rule did. In Rule you were drawn in more to the characters Jet I didn't feel that way

    4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! May 29, 2013

Don't get me wrong this book was great, but just not as great as Rule! Rule and Shaw were so hot, steamy and all around amazing, and I wanted the same for Jet and Ayden, and even though this book had it, it just wasn't the same, it felt as though something was missing. I love a good ending, I almost wanted that ending Rule and Shaw, but hey in due time (at least I hope :)) I will definitely read Rome and will always be a fan of this author!

3.0 out of 5 stars Addicted but not as good as the first January 14, 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition
I loved Rule by Jay Crownover and I was dying to read this book. This book was good but I probably would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't had such high expectations from this novel.

Jet was HAWT and a jerk but not as much as Rule so I liked him. I really like reading the male point of view in these novels because they seem realistic and I don't have a hard time keeping track of whose point of view I'm reading.

Unlike Rule, My main problem with this novel is that I wasn't a huge fan of the female protagonist. It's not because I'm a prude and didn't like her sketchy past it had more to do with how stupidly she acted sometimes. Her inner monologue and point of view was a little too much to stand sometimes.

The plot of this one wasn't as predictable as Rule's but that's not necessarily a good thing. I used to think that the story is over but it wasn't .The author did manage to keep me hooked till the end so I'll give her props for that.

Overall, this is a good book but it's not as great as Rule . I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't expected more from the novel. I'm still VERY excited for the sequel though. Rome and Cora in one novel. It's gonna be .. WAIT FOR IT...Legendary .

    4.0 out of 5 stars I liked it! December 29, 2013
    By MrsLeif
    Format:Kindle Edition
We met Jet on Rule, he is the lead singer of a local heavy metal rock band. He also has his own studio, where he helps new bands develop their new music. He has a terrible father, who is only interested in being a groupie and cheating on his wife. Jet's mother has been in this abusive relationship for too long. She has lost herself and has no desire to leave him.
This makes Jet -understandably- have major anger issues which he is able to process through his music.

Ayden is Shaw's best friend. We also met her in Rule.
She is an ambitious southern girl. She wants to finish her school and become someone. She was there for Shaw in every step of the way.
One night she decided to throw caution to the wind and tries to sleep with Jet. He turns her down and for over a year nothing happens. Jet and Ayden become roommates but every time they are together they can't deny their attraction.

It’s this Ayden that I’m worried about. This Ayden deserves to be happy, regardless of what the future holds, and this Ayden is the one who has to decide why she is settling for milk and cookies when what she really wants is edible body paint and furry handcuffs.”

They both fight their feelings until one day, they just can't anymore.

“I wanna have sex, Ayd. Lots and lots of sex... with you and only you. Does it have to be more than that right now?”

Once they are together nothing is the same. Jet and Ayden realize that it's much more than sex.

“Sometimes, things need to change, because there just isn’t any way for them to stay the same.”

Unfortunately, Ayden has a past and when it starts knocking on her door she makes some bad decisions that I was not happy with.

After finishing Rule, I knew I had to read Jet.
