5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, breaks with over-simplified for masses books..., January 1, 2012
This review is from: Jet Fighter Performance: Korea to Vietnam (Hardcover)
This is one of my all-time favourite aviation books. It does not give great amounts of detail on all or any aircraft it refers to, as it is more interested in the evolution of the species, in light of combat in the real world. BUT...

It is immensely readable (as are all of MS's books), makes its points logically and coherently, and the information it gives, takes it out of the realm of the 'for the masses' books that give max speed, max altitude, max weaponry... with no reference to how each factor impacts the others.... The simple chart of the Phantom, and the impact on performance of actually adding armament and fuel tanks, is what all books on aircraft should be required to do: Give a realistic picture of performance. In the real world. Absolutely excellent, and rather above average in it's history and conclusions drawn.

Korea, the middle east, India vs. Pakistan, all supply information used to explain the evolution of fast jets, as the results of combat in these areas.
