Jet JW1047 4-Inch Quick Disconnect

These have a really, really basic problem - they fall off. Another reviewer mentions using duct tape to hold them on - which completely flies in the face of their purpose - to quickly move the hose from machine to machine. The plastic is too hard and the taper isn't designed properly. Manufacturing quality isn't great - they are only more-or-less round and given the taper problems and hard plastic, the results aren't good: They don't slide on most machines' dust outlets deeply enough, they don't seat, and they don't fully seal. I went back to using the raw hose end, which works fine when using a soft hose.

I already have one of these and needed a 2nd one. I like this style disconnect because no clamp is needed to hold on the hose.

The 4 inch hose just screws right on the end and hold very firm and air-tight. The other end, well, after all these years you would think that they would make a quick disconnect end that fits over the fitting a bit better, but it still fits enough to give an airtight seal. It is definitely OK for the designed usage of moving it from one machine to another.

If the fit was better I'd rate it 5 stars. Also, be wary of the price, this item can usually be had for less than $3.00.

I found it a little difficult to get it to thread on my 4" pipe and it didn't seem like it would stay put without a spring clamp. Serves it's purpose though.

I had hopes that these Quick Disconnects would make it easier for me to move my dust collection hoses from machine to machine. The theory was sound, however, these units will not fit onto the outlet ports securely enough. The threaded end fits onto the hose as expected. The opening at the other end is about 4" and then tapers to about 3 7/8" to ensure a snug fit. The problem is that most of the taper occurs in the first 1/4". This is not enough to secure the hose without tape, etc, which defeats the purpose of a Quick Connect/Disconnect. I have tried to gradually open the ID without success.

Bottom line is that these fittings disconnect well at random times. I just cannot get them to connect securely so that I can use them.

The 4 inch quick connect threads onto the hose properly but the slip-fit side is taperd to much and does not have enough of an interference fit to stay connected to my equipment, it falls off while in use.

I tried to use this thing to connect to the 4" output of my delta jointer and planer, but it just doesn't fit that great... I don't know if I'm just dumb or what, but I was under the impression that it should attach to any machine with a 4" dust port. It didn't fit my machines...

I've used it using a 4" hose to connect it to different machines. For the most part it works well but for some machines it will just get disconnected (no matter how hard you press it). I've found that using duct tape or masking tape around the machine's port helps to keep this adaptor from falling.

I really like the way this quick disconnect works. threaded end makes it easy to screwwinto the Jet hoses and make the quick connection into many of my tools.

The product was delievered on time, and was the correct product. I will continue to purchas from this supplier. The installation was straight forward.

I use a Woodstock International WI049 dust separator. These disconnects lock the 4" hose to the lid so I don't pull them free when I empty the container or if I bump the can. They're easy to attach or remove and protect the hose. I recommend these for use with a dust separator.
