This is a great grinder at a good price. It is heavy and runs smooth. The grinding wheels are definitely a step up from what you'd get with most grinders and the tool rests are heavy cast steel or iron. My major complaint is that the flange washers are cheap stamped steel. One side had a wobble of 1/8" that I could not eliminate with any rotation of the wheel and washers. Fortunately, I have a milling machine, so I was able to true up the washers. Most people don't have this option (and no one wants to have to fiddle to get a new machine to work as it should out of the box.). This is not just a problem with Jet; you can read reviews of almost any bench grinder less than $700 and see similar stories. Why don't the manufacturers recognize this problem and solve it by running their washers through a surface grinder? This could add only a few cents to the cost of the machine and would win loyal customers. Failing that, why doesn't some entrepreneur sell after-market flange washers on Ebay?

This grinder wasn't cheap. The basic problem is the washers that go on the sides of the wheels are made out of stamped metal and consequently, they are not perfectly flat. This introduces "wobble" into the wheel. I used all the tricks to try to eliminate the wobble and I could not get rid of it. For the price of this grinder, I think Jet should have used machined washers. I've been searching the web trying to find machined washers. I haven't had much luck. I may try to find a local machinist to make a set for me. While I don't regret making the purchase, I am a little disappointed with it.

I had a similar experience as the previous reviewer. The wheels seriously wobbled. One of them i got mostly fixed, but was never able to get the other one to stop wobbling. Also, a few other fit&finish issues, including a tool rest that had been cast crooked. Apart from that, it seemed a fairly solid grinder. No runout on the shafts, and it ran smooth without the wheels on. I was seriously tempted to keep it and get replacement parts from Jet. But if the wobbly wheels eventually ended up making me get the OneWay wheel balancing kit, i'd also need to buy new wheels with 1" arbors. Which would all drive the cost up above what i could justify for a bench grinder. So i regretfully returned the unit to Amazon.
