I've owned this saw for the past couple of years and have been happy with it. The fence seems more solid and smoother than others in this price range. TEFC motor a plus, keeps dust out of the innards of the motor. It is also very smooth and vibration free. Plenty of power for anything I've wanted to do with it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Saw, bad fence.
This is a fine saw, but the fence doesn't stay level to the piece being cut! I've adjusted the fence numerous times, but each time I lock it into place, it veers to the left. I have to press forward on the fence to keep it from moving to the left and I still end up with ripped pieces that are off by 1/8 to 1/16.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Saw With the Right Options, December 21, 2001
By
This review is from: Jet JWTS-10JF / 708301GK 10" Table Saw with JETFence
This saw is a really good saw....Cuts well, runs well and accurate. If I was to do it all over, I would get the same saw but with the cast iron wings though because the steel wings don't stay flat and true especially if you have the saw set up to be moved around like I do because every time you move the saw, you grab the saw by the wings and it seems to throw the wing off a little and then when you go to make a cut, the wing isn't perfectly flat with the table. Also, Jet's fence does not lock down too well so it could move on you once you lock it down. I spent extra above the cost of the saw later to get the cast iron wings and the xacta fence where if I wasn't so cheap earlier, I could have gotten the whole package from Jet a LOT cheaper! Yet another lesson on going cheap when making the original purchase. So get the saw, but with the better fence and the better wings!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great saw, but get the model with cast iron wings, November 12, 2000

This review is from: Jet JWTS-10JF / 708301GK 10" Table Saw with JETFence
The saw is great, assembles well, cuts great, smooth operation, etc. The fence, while not as solid as a Biesemyer, is perfectly usable. I use this saw and a Forrest WWII blade for furniture building and the precision is fine. Paint from the steel wings, however, tends to rub off on stock - probably true of any contractor saw with painted steel wings. Every time I use the saw I wish I had spent the extra $100 and bought the model with cast iron wings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great saw, but...!, April 7, 2000

This review is from: Jet JWTS-10JF / 708301GK 10" Table Saw with JETFence
Just finished assembling my JWTS-10PF, which is the same saw as the Jet Fence (10JF) version, but with the Xacta fence. Saw quality: excellent. Fence: Good quality, poor finish. Installation manuals for both are terrible. Saw is metric, fence and hardware are English! Jet: Get your act together! Could be a great saw at a good price, but assembly was more difficult than need be. Jet tech support was very good and had the answers, as they've heard the questions many times. Why couldn't they make the manuals better so I wouldn't need their tech support?

5.0 out of 5 stars A great saw...with qualifications, January 31, 2001

This review is from: Jet JWTS-10JF / 708301GK 10" Table Saw with JETFence
I have owned my Jet table saw for 2 years now and am very pleased with it. I purchased my saw after owning a craftsman table saw for 9 years, and there is no comparison. My wife watched me set up a cut on my craftsman and agreed that I needed a new saw. She watched me set up a similar cut on my Jet saw and couldn't believe the difference. The table is sturdy and solid. Set up took some patience, but the wings and fence rails were very easy to adjust. The fence only took a minor adjustment to align with the blade. The only drawbacks for me are the fact that the fence does not have a fine adjustment feature and the scale on the fence is not very accurate. I also sometimes have problems with the height adjustment on the insert moving due to vibration of the motor. However, if I would have spent a little more money, I could have gotten a fence with the fine adjustment. As far as the scale on the fence, I would not rely on this even if it was dead-on accurate, that's just asking for trouble. I have been very happy with the ease of use, I like the way the blade guard attaches even though it takes a little extra time to remove it, and I would recommend this saw to anyone. As a matter of fact, I drove over 50 miles in a blizzard to pick mine up. One other idea: change the height and tilt adjustment locks to a cam type lock to make them easier to lock down without changing the settings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Table Saw, April 2, 2000

I've now been using this table saw for 6 months. During setup I was impressed with how close to true it was out of the box. The adjustments were easy and well engineered. Using this saw is a pleasure. The blade guard comes off by loosening 3 bolts and it slips out. It could be easier, but that might defeat the design purpose. I would buy another, but this one seems destined to last a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Saw!, May 17, 2000

I purchased a Delta Contractors Saw, and the arbor shaft was bent. So I returned it and bought one of these, and I am very pleased. It is a much better saw. The instructions were ok (had pictures of the bolts) until I got to the jet-fence. I didn't waste much time with it ...just called tech support. Screws on the front rail, allen wrench bolts on the back rail, and hex bolts on the fence. It's my first table saw, and it may well last a lifetime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jet JWTS with JF, July 31, 2001
By
This review is from: Jet JWTS-10JF / 708301GK 10" Table Saw with JETFence
The set up was very easy, but not quick. It took me about 4 hours. The instructions were easy to understand. Evidently Jet has revamped their instructions as I've read they were once quite confusing.

I've done a fair amount of ripping with it in the two weeks I've had it. I've even ripped some 3" thick pine. The saw did bog down while cutting the 3" pine (probably due to me feeding it too fast).

The factory blade (yes Jet now supplies a carbided tipped blade) gives a smooth surface when ripping. But with 28 teeth, it's poor for crosscutting. Overall, I'm impressed with the blade and glad they didn't give me a true combo blade. I did have some minor cosmetic problems with the stickers on the stand being imperfect and a few small paint imperfections. Nothing I couldn't live with. However, I called the factory and they are sending me paint and new stickers.

I'm probably most surprised by the Jet Fence. I've heard mixed reviews on it, but I was very impressed. My only real complaint with it is that it requires drilling to add a sacraficial fence. I suppose the true test will be how it holds up over the years, but it's very heavy, solid and square. I can't imagine needing an upgrade.

Overall, I would definitely recommend it. It's quite a saw for the $509 I paid for it. The only Delta that I fould that was comparable was about $90 more. I bought it from a factory service center which sells and services both Jet and Delta. The salesman used to work in the warranty shop and made it clear to me that it was an easy decision as far as reliability. He said he'd definitely go with the Jet as he'd seen too many problems with the Deltas. I don't know if he's right. He might just be getting a better comission on the Jet.

Oh yeah, it passed the nickle test with no problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT SAW , VALUE PRICED!!, August 31, 2001

We use this saw in our cabinet shop primarily with a dado blade/power feed setup. The saw surprised me with how powerful, smooth, and quiet it is. Assembly time is about 2 1/2 - 3 hours ( make sure you have a helper for mounting the motor ) and all parts were in the box. We already had a Jet 3 hp cabinet saw and dust collector so I was aware of the quality of Jet products. My only negative comment would be that they didnot put on the X-acta fence, but for a saw of this quality and price the Jet fence does an adequate job. You can't go wrong with this saw!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exellent value for the home enthusiast/woodworker, November 6, 2001

I purchased this saw in August of this year when a local shop closed. I supplemented the stock miter guage with the Delta 36-205 sliding miter jig, (See my review there..) and couldn't be happier!

The most delightful feature on the saw is the fence! It has remained true, and required very little adjustment during setup. After accumulating several pieces of equipment, I finally broke down and purchased the dust collector... so don't underestimate the value of the enclosed base and 4" hose connection.

I was really hoping to get a saw with greater rip capacity, but shop space is really limited (so is the budget!). I have now completed a few projects that required ripping sheets of plywood to 3'x5', and didn't have any problems.

Other saws in the price range just couldn't compare...
