An incredible resource for parents traveling with kids.,

This review is from: Jet with Kids: Taking the Fear Out of Flying... with Your Kids! (Paperback)
This is a great book for any parent traveling with small children or thinking they can't travel because they have small children. Not only does it have great advice about inflight activities to keep kids entertained, etc, it has recommendations for great travel products that make traveling with my little ones a breeze.
Most importantly, the author alerts you to the hazards of the "lap child" policy on most airlines. I highly recommend this book to any frequent traveler thinking of having children or already in the thick of parenthood.

The Really Good: Ms. Clowers (the author) is clearly passionate about children, parents, and their combined safety and comfort when traveling. This book captures some key points she has gathered through her extensive experience traveling with a child along with information gathered through interviews with experts with over 450 years of experience including gate agents, flight attendants, and pilots. The result is a handful of points where any one of them, if you had not figured it out for yourself, could be worth many times the cost of this book. (I found the packing tips and suggestions for seat selection particularly useful.)
The Somewhat Annoying: There is a lot of self-promotion. The author's web site hundreds of times in this 150 page book. On several occasions it appears five times on a single page. The book could have been made a lot shorter by using a different layout, moving the links to a page on the author's site, and then referencing that site far fewer times. Perhaps as a result the book could have been made available for a bit less. The Bottom Line: I gave this book a good rating because it provides useful information that will contribute the safety and comfort of my wife and daughter. If it were about anything else the rating would have been considerably worse.

I wish this book would have been available when I started flying with our daughter. I had so many questions and concerns, and I had to learn it the hard way. Now you can prepare yourself with "Jet with Kids." I agree with most of the information, but I have some doubts about "flying with an infant on your lap." The author discourages it. If you have family living overseas, and you regular want to visit them, then it ends up being rather expensive, that is having to buy an extra seat each time. I always flew with my baby/toddler on my lap until she was 23 months old. I did, however, use the BabyBair (a kind of life jacket attached to your seatbelt).

I consider myself a well-traveled individual and was very impressed with this book. It is very well-written and is a fabulous resource for anyone who flies, whether or not you have a child with you. On the other hand, if you are traveling with a child, it is a "must read". The author has researched so many different avenues to assist the reader in traveling with little ones and has many wonderful ideas as to how to make the trip a smooth one. I highly recommend this book!

This book gives a lot of good information about traveling with you kids. Things that I would not have thought about otherwise. Some of the information made our trip a LOT more convenient and smooth.

Jet With Kids is not just a list of what to pack (though you will be hard pressed to find a better checklist anywhere else). Nor is it a 'best of' of parent advice. It is rather a combination of personal experience, aggregated data, professional input, practical advice, and frank honesty.
It is written one parent to another, and difficult to put down once it's picked up! It is well organized and easy to find just what answer one is looking for. I highly recommend this book for parents and Shae by Air for their toddlers.

I am a retired flight attendant (36 years) and am so pleased that this book is out. I spent a lot of time on the airplane educating parents regarding the safety of their children while flying. A large number of parents just didn't know how to travel with their children or what to expect. It even took me time to figure out the best way to travel with my own children! This book covers all the areas I can think of that need attention before traveling with children. Well done Anya Clowers!

Practical, tried and true information for parents flying with kids,
This review is from: Jet with Kids: Taking the Fear Out of Flying... with Your Kids! (Paperback)
Jet with Kids is an excellent book about the reality of flying with children. It is the perfect length for a busy parent to read--with easy subject headings to identify areas of information easily. What I really enjoyed the most were the practical tips that the author gave throughout the book--obviously she has had lots of hands-on experience. Because this book has covered it all--I was able to skip the hours and hours of scanning the internet for flying information (which is often outdated and false) and just look to this one factual source. I have also found that I am going back to this book time and again to look for specific advice as my child grows and as we travel to different destinations. Thanks for a great book! Finally some concrete, practical, tried and true information on flying with kids!

As a retired flight attendant and safety advocate I am most impressed with Anya Clowers amazing book for every parent traveling with infants, toddlers and small children. She has compiled a thorough and well-researched book that covers every aspect of travel and how to do it with comparative ease. And she provides links to back up every recommendation. This should be a must-read travel handbook for parents!
