5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, Something Different and Enjoyable, April 14, 2002

This soundtrack is amazing. The Game Jet Set(Grind in the US) Radio was and still is one of the reasons to have a Dreamcast. The best part about it though (and this is saying a lot) was the music. This CD has nearly all of the best tracks. There are some missing that were put into the US version but they weren't as good and as innovative as the ones here. I was sour to the music industry until I heard this music. Not commercial, no subliminal messages, no story to tell, no anything like that, it is just [great] music. If you have become sour to the music industry this CD will renew your faith. So different and so great you can't help but like these tracks. I only wish more people would listen to it or not just dismiss it as "weird Japanesee [stuff]" because it is something anyone can like. My only complaint is that they didn't include Deavid Soul or Guitar Vader (they have some of the best tracks in the game) but Hideki Naganuma's music won't make you miss them too much.

If you like music, get this.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST game soundtrack ever!!!, June 1, 2001
This review is from: Jet Set Radio (Audio CD)
This game is the core of originality. Youre a gang member who skates around in a futuristiky tokyo spraypainting your collected and created graffiti tags all over. The game's attitude would be nothing without this amazing soundtrack. Literally EVERY song is awesome. J-pop, techno, house, hip hop, funk. If youre a fan of ANY of those, you MUST buy this soundtrack. It is worth the import price. you just have to get it. I love it so much. When I get a car w/cd changer, this is going in first.

This is an awesome CD. Music from the game Jet Set Radio (Jet Grind Radio in the U.S.), the music is simply incredible. This game has the best music of any game ever, period. A mixture of Techno, Hip-Hop, and Rock, these songs are simply awesome. This is definately a must-buy.

Let me just say, I thought the techno artist Hideki Naganuma was a genius in the music business before I got this CD. After, I was like "Woah."

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fabulous! Breath of Fresh Air, December 11, 2001

I first heard the music in the game Jet Grind Radio on Sega Dreamcast. (The name was changed for the American release.) I knew something was up when both I and my brother---who didn't even play, only watched!---had these catchy numbers stuck in our head for weeks. Jet Set Radio's got an upbeat, diverse mix of hip-hop, dance, and Japanese-style punk music that is not to be missed. Fans of the Basement Jaxx, Daft Punk, and Zoobombs will definitely find tracks to love on this disc---I got into those bands (and others) after Sega opened my eyes with JSR.

This will be missing some tracks from the "extra levels" in the U.S. release, but the Rob Zombie stuff stuck out like a sore thumb anyway, so that's no big deal. I also highly recommend the game as a work of art in itself, you can pick up a new Dreamcast plus J.G.R. for about US$60---more than worth the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best video game soundtracks, June 19, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jet Set Radio (Audio CD)
With music second only to that of the Zelda series, this soundtrack consists of some of the best and most original music available.

Unfortunately, it does not contain any of the music by Guitar Vader, such as the incredibly fun "Super Brother", thereby making the soundtrack far from complete. This is the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5.

This CD is a whole lot of fun! Too bad no one has ever had the brilliant idea to bring it to the US and make it more accesable to listeners to good music. It is just that good!
