A really handy cup for soup, hot chocolate, coffee, most anything hot.

I bought this along with the jetboil group cooking system, Jetboil Group Cooking System. The idea, chili, soup, or other foods can be cooked in the 1.5L pot. Melting snow, warming up water, coffee, or hot chocolate could be made in this cup; using only one burner.

The design is a bit unusual, and the pictures are a bit deceiving. That bottom black part is a plastic cover you remove for cooking. Inside there is a metal frame and a ring of heat conducting fins. Those fins are the genius in this system. The top black part works moslty like the driving cup thermos things. The body is covered in neoprene. There's a handle on one side, and a loop of material on the other (it's a spot to insert utensiles).

To use the cup, you have to remove the pot attachment from the Jetboil stove. This cup then bayonets directly to the burner. Pretty darn solid connection once you've inserted the cup. You kind of have to be careful not to turn the flame up too high, there's a fair amount of neoprene nearby that could get overheated. But at medium to low burner setting, you can feel almost no heat around the cup, virtually all the energy is going into the liquid in the cup.

The handle is the one minor design flaw, when the cup is full, the thing is a bit tippy if you try to use the handle like a coffee mug handle. However, you'll probably wrap your hands around the cup anyway to warm them; and the loop makes a great place to pass several of your fingers to keep the cup from falling out of your hand easily.

Overall, this is an amazingly efficient system. Water is warm in virtually no time at all. Raman noodles would cook up super in here.

I bought this spare so more than one of us could eat at once (sure, you could bring bowls/plates but why?).

Like the cup that came with the 'package' it boils like mad! Cooks Ramen Noodles pretty easily too. (Just turn it way down)

Never used any other kind of system, but I'm really happy with JetBoil.
