It's a big download - so be sure you have enough Device Memory available... I didn't on the first tablet I installed it on. So I downloaded it to another device only to discover it's 199mbs fully installed with NO option to move it to external memory. This spells big trouble for devices with a partitioned memory... like all of mine except my Samsung Tab 3. It's getting deleted off my reviewing tablet after I shoot my video review as it does have partitioned memory.

Then there is the advertising... the Online advertising behavior is a bit over the top for a normally premium game, including a popup upon entry. And the main screen has a changing banner and three other game adverts. It's like paying for commercial television.

:(

As for IAP - don't think it's present at the moment. It has a powerup sideline that you earn coins in game to buy, but I've poked about and can't find any actual In-App Purchasing.

Permissions include Find Accounts, and in hand in hand with Flurry Analytics in the code... nothing intensively intrusive and everything else is okay, but still for a premium game, you would think Big Fish Games would have cleaned up their act a bit more. It does run OFFLINE and the back-key will exit cleanly from any screen, even if you are in the middle of a match, so be careful.

I'll be honest, I'll be keeping this game to play OFFLINE as it is a rather glossy and fun Match-3, but only because I happen to have my Samsung Tab 3, the only tablet I have that doesn't have a partitioned memory. Alas, I rather have the game on my 7" traveler tablet, but not with that 200mb unmovable hog. There is a reason I have a 32gig SD card in my little 7" game player. Nor I am happy with all the advertising.

I recently got into more casual gaming and went looking for a "match 3" game. I read a lot of reviews and finally settled on Jewel Legends Tree of Life.

Initially I was enjoying it a lot. It has good graphics and enough variety to keep it interesting, however, as I went up in levels I began to tire of the suggested move that pops up if I don't make a move within a certain amount of time. I've looked for a way to turn this off, and certainly, I may just be missing it, but I cannot change this behavior and it is ruining the fun for me. I don't want to be told where the move is! I want more time to look for it!

Equally annoying is a behavior I've began experiencing in the mid range levels, I'll be making a match, and on the completely opposite side of the board, I'll see a quick movement. The game is "gaming" itself! With 100% reliability, I will be able to find the next move exactly where the game set it up! This completely ruins the sense of a challenge. It makes it feel like I'm just sitting there pushing buttons which is causing me to lose all interest which is a bummer, because I want to keep playing. That and I paid for it.

Finally, I feel that this apps asks for to many permissions. Not an unusually large number, but I really like it when a paid app asks for little to no permissions. There are some out there. Check out "Rebuild" and the permissions it requires as an example of a ethical app. I can see free versions collecting data, seems a fair trade, but not a paid app.

Bought this game on my kindle but it keeps on freezing. Overall I am disappointed because I love these types of games but the freezing ruined it for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tree of Patience December 12, 2014

Great game, very fun, and takes plenty of analysis to complete. The match three types begin very simply, very easy. Once you clear the marked squares then you have to ensure you matched enough of that round's resources. Only when you have done both - cleared the marked squares AND gathered(matched) enough resources, will that round end.

Normally I'd give such a great game 5 stars, but I'm deducting one because at higher levels it becomes very difficult. For example, when a new round opens, there might be only one possible match on the board. When you make that one, then there may not be any and the game forces itself to set a match by dropping tiles until it sees a possible match. This can happen over and over again causing lots of frustration. And later levels also require using earned "power-ups". These are functions such as a) destroying one block, b) switching one block with another, c) randomly switching all blocks, and d) power ball - random fireballs that destroy blocks (my favorite as it usually destroys difficult to get to blocks). Using power-ups do cost money, game money earned in the game itself. And the more difficult the power-ups, the more money it costs.

All in all it's a great game, but in higher levels requires lots of patience as you look for that one elusive match that's available on the entire board, one that's in an area you already cleared of course. Patience......

I had a hard time figuring out the game and I usually don't play match 3 but it was a free app of the day. I'm really good at it now and enjoy playing on my Kindle Fire.
