I had such a hard time tracking down this game at a normal price (twenty bucks), but finally did a few days ago and have been enjoying playing it SO much! It's a straightforward match 3 with no story or distractions. Finally one that just focuses on what the game is really all about! I can just turn this on, play a level or two or 20-30 or more. You can play levels 1-150 in order, and it will save your progress between levels automatically which is nice. The power-ups are helpful; allowing you to clear certain jewels or rows of jewels which helps you out of the tough spots. You can play with or without a timer. The game has pretty scenery on the top screen, and crisp, clear jewels on the bottom screen. The jewels are constantly moving (like independently rotating, or "twinkling" as the manufacturer claims), but I found this to be uncomfortable in my vision field to have all that movement while I play, so I made it stop by pressing the X button. The music and sound effects are pleasant enough to leave on even during marathon game sessions. I have a hard time putting this game down. I turn it on with the intent of playing 2 or 3 levels and then keep saying "just one more!!" and end up playing 10-20 levels at a time. I really do love that I am not interrupted between levels with some ridiculous story like other match 3 games do. Jewel Match is a great game, I was surprised at how very much I enjoy it! I highly recommend it! I have several match 3 games on my DS and this is definitely one of my favorites!

I didn't like this game quite as much as many of the other reviewers. It seemed very basic to me, with not much to make me want to hold onto it once I'd played through the 150 levels. In fact, I've traded it away already.

On the plus side, the "jewels" are clear and mostly very easy to distinguish, even if blocked by locks/chains. The twinkle effect was annoying to me, so I followed up on the tip another reviewer left and pressed the X-button. That turns off the twinkle, and that setting seems to persist even after exiting and restarting the game.

There are some standard bonuses/power-ups that you earn as you play each level: remove a gem only, remove a gem and whatever is locking it, blast an entire row, remove all of a specific type of gem. I never encountered a bonus that removed a column or that blasted an area of the board (3x3 or something of that ilk) that I have seen in other match-3 games. Both would have been very helpful since a lot of the boards have single vertical columns of gems on them or other difficult to access areas. But I was able to get thru 150 levels with the bonuses available.

Very occasionally I received a message, while playing a level, that some other type of power-up was now available. Storm, etc. Blow into the DS microphone and the backgrounds of the gems you haven't cleared yet would be blown away. I found these very occasional, mysteriously appearing, power-ups to be so sporadic that they weren't helpful. I couldn't plan my approach to a level counting on that power-up to be made available.

When you finish level 150 the credits roll. No hoopla. No "congratulations".

As others have said, there is no story and there are no extras to this game. It's 150 match-3 levels. Period.

This is one of the best match three games ever!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sounds of the jewels are great, would have done more than the 150 levels. Loved the different broads, want more, must have a Jewel Match 2, 3, and/or 4!!!!!! This game rocks!!!!! Having Jewel withdraw, re-played under a second profile!!!!! Best, Best, Best!!!!!!! I brought this game for a person I got hooked on playing the DSi XL system. If you like Match 3 games, this is a MUST HAVE!!!! I MUST HAVE MORE!!!!!!

When I first started playing this game I didn't think there was much to it. I thought I probably wasted my money.

I started playing in the relaxed mode to really get the feel of the game and each level gets better and better. I play some games in relaxed and others under another name in the timed mode. This is one of the most addictive games I have ever played and it was welllllllllllllll worth the money. When the battery needs to be recharged in my dsxl, I take out the game and put in on my regular ds. I am a 64 year old female and my son got me hooked on ds games years ago and I own a lot. My favorites are card games and jewel games and I have to say again I love this game.

I didn't think I would find something I liked better than the Touchmaster games but this is my favorite.

Gotta go - another level awaits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm enjoying the game. I thought it would stop at the 100 level, but it still goes on. I'm on level 143 now. Great game.

The other reviewers have done a great job capturing the look and feel of the game. I just wanted to add my two cents. I owned this game for the Mac and adored it. But, alas, when Mac OS X Lion came out this summer (2011), I could no longer run the game. Now I've found it again for the DS platform. Hooray! I play in relaxed mode and just get absorbed in it. I'm just like the reviewer who starts out saying I'll play 2 or 3 levels and then get so addicted I can't stop for like 10 or so. Really a great game with great sound effects. This one is fun if you want to be able to get through all the levels. If you have patience, you can do it, at least in relaxed mode. Good luck and enjoy!
