Good mix of seek and find and match three puzzle gaming.,

I am a fan of both "seek and find" and "match three" type puzzle games. This game is a good mix of both. The seek and find is neither too easy nor too difficult, and you can earn plenty of hints by finding the special coins in each level. Hints can also be used as a "special" to break blocks in puzzle levels. You also have the option of purchasing extra "hint/special" slots and other various upgrades using the jewels you find in each level. I haven't had much of a chance to play the Mysteryville game, but I like what I've seen so far. All in all, two good games for a great price!

I really enjoyed this game. My mom and sister would come over and we would play it together. Instead of a book club, we started a DS club. We buy games and play them together. It's alot of fun. This game was one of the games we played and enjoyed to the end. Then we stared it all over again. You'd be suprised how you can forget things after awhile. I would recommend this game very highly.

I had great hopes for this game. The first few levels were OK, but starting with level 3, at the Jewel Quest stage, or the puzzle stage, the game will freeze and the only way out is to turn off the DS, and restart it. You will lose all your progress for the level, it will reset itself to the 2 minute level, and you have to work through the 2 minutes for it to reset to the actual minutes that you have to solve the various challenges. Also, if you work the Jewel Quest area faster than the game can keep up with you, the game will also freeze. I haven't tried Mysteryville game yet.

I just received this product today from Amazon. One of the worst products I have. Probably will never come out of the case again.
Neither one of these games can be played in relaxed mode. I end up getting so nervous and tense while playing in timed mode that my heart starts pumping way too fast. Since heart surgery I try not to have that happen.............will not be playing it again..........very poor info when it doesn't state that it does not have the ability to play in relaxed mode, only timed. I have Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir - Relaxed or Timed Mystery PI: Portrait of a Thief - Relaxed or Timed Amazing Adventures: The Forgotten Ruins - Relaxed or Timed The above 3 I have been playing over and over so thought it was time to add some different ones. VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS ONE.

I did not go into this expecting Jewel Quest. I knew it was a seek and find game. So my expectations weren't dashed or anything. I really enjoyed these games. I did not find them complicated and had no technical issues with them. They were nice sold seek and finds that I enjoyed while relaxing in the evening. Easy to pick up and play, objects were not hard to see (for the most part) and the music was fine (which in puzzle games for me means it was not so irritating I turned it off!)
If you adjust your expectation to a rather plain Jane seek and find but fun game you'll feel as if your money was well spent here. Recommended because at most of the current price points it is a nice inexpensive option!

The mystery is why the prominent words in the title are "Jewel Quest"; because that's a minor portion of that half of this duo.
The Jewel Quest part is more seek/find of mass smatterings of objects with differing combinations to find. You need young eyes to see some of the objects which are mere shadows. For every minute you play 3-in-a-row, you'll play many, many minutes of the seek/find. The Mysteryville portion has a silly overall story. Minor Spoiler: in one section we meet a character, make introductions, etc. Then the light bulb blows and we are to use a flashlight to find a light bulb - but first we have to find a list of seek/find objects. Again, many of these are difficult to see. Mysteryville is a seek/find game written with a totally weak story to try to disguise it as a mystery game. The games are spoiled by having time limits. This game is not very friendly due to the combination of the obscurity of the items and the clock. It's obvious that Activision didn't think a lot of either game since they are packaged together for a low price. If you really, really like seek/find games with tons of items to find and you don't care about the story line, then this is worth a try. If you can rent it cheaply or try it before buying, then do so.

Too short...,

I bought this came on Saturday night. By Tuesday night I beat both games. I would call myself a casual gamer, I play about an hour or two a night, on Sunday I didn't have much to do so I might have played 5 or so hours (off and on in one hour increments). So I feel like I got a total of maybe 10-15 hours if that out of this game. Good thing it was so cheap! I did feel like it was worth the money I paid for it and it feels good to "beat" a game, I haven't done that in a long time.
Now for the break down review Jewel Quest Mysteries This was an interesting game. So what it is, is you have a usually 30 minute timer for completing a certain amount of seek and find games, maybe a puzzle game and one jewel quest match 3 games. Then you move on to the next level and do it all over again with different puzzles. I found this to be pretty challenging a few times I didn't make it in time and I had to start the level all over again but since all the puzzles were the same, it was super fast the second time around, maybe they should have randomized this because there are way more than you can find in one screen. I must agree with a lot of other comments, it was super hard to find some stuff, you have to seriously have good eyes + good lighting + knowing what things look like in all forms + vast knowledge of stuff... there was more than a few times I asked my b/f what something was, like one item was an olive spoon... seriously olive spoon? What's an olive spoon? Well if you play this game you will figure that out fast. Also there was a bunch of lettuce and green onions and celery in this one screen where it was basically a green bush (that was the same green as the those items and those items weren't exactly outlined) but I would have had no idea there was a head of lettuce, green onions or a celery in there if I didn't use my hint, that would have been impossible to figure out unless a) I knew it was there already or b) I used a hint. I might have been able to tilt my DS a certain to way with my lighting to maybe make out those things but seriously it shouldn't be THAT hard! I'm only 26 and I have good eyes and if I'm having trouble making out things, that's definitely not good. Oh yeah after I "beat" the game, when I go to try to play it, it just shows me a screen where it says something like congrats you beat the game and hit the okay button to go to the opening screen. I sort of wished that there was an area you can go to, to find all the items in a scene or something gets unlocked when you beat the game like other seek and find games... but no in this one. So really it shows there is zero replay value. You can't ever go back to pervious puzzles or levels. Mysteryville This game wasn't as fun as Jewel Quest Mysteries, and that's saying a lot. This is a straight shoot seek and find game. This wasn't as hard as Jewel Quest Mysteries in some respects, like they don't crazy hide things in the same color with no outline marks to find but at the same time, it hides things that are seriously a few pixels big. One game was to fine 23 bullet shells, basically yellow cylinders, well two of those bullet shells were seriously a few pixels big, I just touched anything yellow and that worked. This game is a little better in beating the game you can always go back to pervious puzzles but that's about it. Again overall it was worth the value, if you want a game you can "beat" easily then this might be for you, if you have amazing eyes and a vast knowledge of what random things look like then this might be for, if you really really really love seek and find games than this might for you but if you are looking for something like the regular jewel quest where you make 3 items in a row and that's your favorite thing than this is not for you.

I really enjoyed this game. On Jewel Quest the levels definately got more challenging as you progressed and there was even a game similar to the bejeweled game. However, when I got to the 7th or 8th level, the bejeweled game would freeze and then I would have to repeat the last level I completed. This went on for about 3 levels. I contacted Amazon and since I was within the thirty days they refunded my money. I didn't get a chance to play Mysteryville, the second game included.

Jewel Quest Mysteries/Mysteryville offers two solid seek-and-find adventures, and it's a great value (basically two games for the price of one). Jewel Quest Mysteries is particularly good because it has some nice puzzles and match-3 "jewel boards" thrown into the seek-and-find mix, and the time limits can offer a bit more of a challenge than some seek-and-finds. These are casual games, obviously, so there's not really any deep game play (though there is a simple story guiding each game). These games are good for seek-and-find fans, though, or for anyone to pick-up and play in short bursts (like when you have some waiting room time or want something brainless to relax with at the end of the day). I had no problem with the graphics or seeing objects overall.
Please do keep in mind that these games are primarily seek-and-finds. If you're looking for more match-3 games, similar to the original Jewel Quest, you need to be looking elsewhere.
