5.0 out of 5 stars I can't WAIT to go to Ireland ...
I swear Nora Roberts must get kickbacks from the Irish Tourism board. Who WOULDN'T want to go try and find a village like Ardmore, and the wonderful people in it? 3.0 out of 5 stars Jewels of the Sun
Irish Trilogy - Book 1

This was not a good read for me. I guess I am one that definitely likes her more recent work because I couldn't force myself to get involved with this one. This was not very exciting, and the story was lacking depth.

Jude Murray runs from her life in America with a broken heard in tow, and heads to Ireland to study old tales...

I swear Nora Roberts must get kickbacks from the Irish Tourism board. Who WOULDN'T want to go try and find a village like Ardmore, and the wonderful people in it? Some readers have complained of Jude's "weak" character, and if I had tossed the book away halfway through I might have agreed. But the point is that people do develop and grow, and we got to see Jude get over her insecurities. People who don't think she's a realistic character have clearly never been on the insecure side. And Aidan -- well, who wouldn't want to spend hours in his company? Charming, a captivating storyteller, a romantic, a man who knows himself and his home. I am so looking forward to reading about Shawn and Brenna, and then of course Darcy and ... whomever. I'm not normally into books where ghosts and faeries are spoken of matter-of-factly, but even that aspect of the story was enchanting. I read the book to my husband in 2 days of driving on the way back from vacation, and even he (a Stephen King fan) enjoyed it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh to be Irish!, December 30, 1999
If this story does not make you want to jaunt off to Ireland and fall in love with a charming rogue, you're either dead or a man!

At first I was surprised to read the reviews from people disappointed with the book. The more I thought about it, though, I had to admit that it is not your typical Nora Roberts mystery/suspense romance. Those who are familiar with her other works, and that of J.D. Robb, would no doubt be disappointed - there really is no mystery. You know in the end that Aidan and Jude will be together. But it's the journey that gets them there that should, and does, entertain you.

I have been a fan of Nora Roberts for a long, long time, and have yet to be disappointed with her work. This novel is a funny, entertaining, magical description of Aidan & Jude's romance.

I laughed along with Jude, for I, along with many others, I'm sure, can relate to her "neurotic" thinking sometimes. I do not, however, believe this makes her a "weak" heroine. It makes her real. I envied her for the friendships that bloomed between her, Darcy and Brenna. And I completely fell for Aidan. What more could a reader wish for in a book?

How long until the next one?

5.0 out of 5 stars Nora is back!, December 20, 1999
I am a HUGE Nora Roberts fan. I have read 57 of her books written as herself and J.D. Robb, two of those being compilations. Lately I was getting discouraged because her books were getting a bit repetitive as if they were all comming out of the same mold. I was a bit hesitant when I read the synopsis on the back of this book, thinking to myself that it sounded all too familiar. Boy, was I wrong! This story is fresh and dynamic. You'll want to cheer for Jude Murray and all the wonderful characters that surround her. One of the things that endears me most to Nora is her wonderful sense of family and community and this is one of her best examples to date. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to get away from it all for a few chapters and step into the wonderful world of Ireland dipicted by Nora Roberts!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nora Roberts at her very best!, March 6, 2000
I've loved the McGregor books, but this one is even better! I felt that I was right there in Ireland living with Jude. The book is so descriptive, you really feel a part of the action. You ache for poor Gwen and rejoice for Jude and Aiden when they finally figure out what needs to be said. I can't wait for the next books in the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars A new Jewel by Nora Roberts, November 30, 1999
I've always been a fan of Nora Roberts books and this latest book is the best since the Born in Fire trilogy! I love the main character, so many times in romance the female lead falls all over the man, even if that man treats her horribly. In this story the woman makes him show her his love instead of giving into what he wants. What a wonderful story of self discovery and reliance.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Magic Touch, November 29, 1999
By A Customer
I have been a Nora Roberts fan for years and I am not disappointed in this outing. Her plot is well developed as are her characters. The dialogue is clean and she makes wonderful use of imagery. I have been to Ireland and Ms. Roberts does a wonderful job in bringing back the sights and sounds of such a beautiful country. For those readers who disliked the mystical angle.. why? Sometimes you need to suspend your belief in things you can only see and touch. After all what is faith? The belief in something we can't see or prove to be true. We are still learning so much about our world, someday we may discover that fairies, elves and other types of "magic" really do exist...for now we will have to make do with authors whose writing is so good she helps us believe in the magic even for the space of those few hundred pages. Bravo

5.0 out of 5 stars Fall in love again., March 18, 2000
By
A tale of romance and fantasy. Explore the culture, folk lore and traditions of Ireland. I am wishing that I could just escape and live this novel. I spent many hours burning the midnight oil over this one. You will immediately fall in love with this tale. It captures your heart and imagination and holds on tight until you have finished. It stirs up memories of what it is like to fall in love. You easily transform yourself into the characters only wishing and hoping that you could again feel the emotions that they are feeling. Oh, to be that in love again! You will not be able to put this one down.

Jude Murray runs from her life in America with a broken heard in tow, and heads to Ireland to study old tales and legends. She stays at her grandmothers' cottage, and likes it so much that she longs to become part of the community.

Aidan Gallagher runs the local pub with his family, but is not prepared for the impact meeting Jude will have on his life. Through magic and deep sorrow of a ghost, Jude and Aidan discover their new path in life together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mystical Ireland and Romance, February 4, 2000
Nora Roberts invites you to read a legendary tale of modern day Ireland. You could feel the magic in every word. I especially loved the pub. I felt like I was in the room with the characters and had a pint in my hand. I smiled through the entire book. Waiting anxiously for the next books!
