This book is very well written.

The problem is that Mr. Herzig rarely goes more than a few pages without talking about Jesus being the messiah and how Jews really should just get with the program.

This book helps non Jews understand the Jewish roots of Christianity.

I am a Christian seeking to learn more about our Jewish roots and foundation. This book helped a great deal. Most Christians don't have a clue who the Jews really are and how important they are to Christanity. We do have Jewish roots, yet we rarely go there in our teachings. How can one understand something (The Bible) without understanding where it really came from? This book is one of many in my collection, and worth keeping. I will reread it soon. I am setting a new standard in my Christian Sunday School and Bible studies. I will teach alot about who the Jews are and their traditions, along with how it all applies to Christians and the world history, including the end times. Great book!

This book is very well written. It's coverage of Jewish customs and culture is very insightful. I recommend it because it goes a long way toward familiarizing its reader with a range of study, that is not so indepth that one needs a doctorate to understand it.

Disclaimer: the author is a personal friend and long time ministry associate. That said, Steve has given us a good, quick and very helpful journey through both historic and biblical Judaism. Like any other topic, it would be impossible to bring everything together in one volume. But what Steve has done is to take the essentials of Judaism mixed with personal experience and bring it all to point to the Messiah. Every Christian who is serious about his spiritual heritage ought read this book! Thanks, Steve.

How much better it is to learn about a culture's practices rather than view it as strange. The book sheds light on how certain practices in the Jewish culture can lead to greater understanding of why certain statements were made in the Bible. Makes for outstanding illustrations.

Not quite what I expected; from the cover, I assumed it would give insight to help understand the culture from an outsider's perspective. Much of it was about the Bible and history. Perhaps the culture cannot be separated from the religion. The topic I was most interested in and bought the book for, the Sabbath is covered in 3 pages. One of the most interesting parts of the book was actually the glossary, how many words we use are Yiddish, including "Nosh" and "Schmooz." As my colleague said, "You can't understand us."

I enjoyed this book, it was very eye opening and help me understand the culture and ways of the Jewish people. It also helped me understand some of the things in the bible as well, since it talks about the Jewish people and the things that were said and what they did. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to dig deeper into the why's of their way of life.
