Editorial Reviews

Review

". . . Describes one family's observance of Sabbath and the holy days, generating conagious pleasure. Here is scholarship enveloped in a joy for Judaism, its traditions and rites. A fine book for newlyweds and a must for young parents." --Hadassah Magazine

"The book assures that each holiday will become an event for every member of the family." --San Francisco Jewish Bulletin

". . . Provides a pleasant and scenic path towards a shared Jewish tradition. While Jewish readers have the most to gain from the book, non-Jews will also find it enjoyable and informative." --Minneapolis Star and Tribune

About the Author

Arlene Rossen Cardozo is the author of The Liberated Cookbook and Woman at Home, and for many years lectures on the family. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband and three children.

This book is not for those who are seeking to convert to Judiasm. But the book IS great for explaining the holidays in greater, easy to read and understand, detail. It includes recipes and suggestions that are practical and easy-to-follow. For answers to questions I pick up "To Be A Jew", but for more information about a holiday - this is the book!!!

My son is 19. I've been using the same book since he was two. I must admit I use it mainly for Hanukkah. I'm making latkes tonight. They are great. I strongly recommend this title.
