From Library Journal
This comprehensive bibliography of published and unpublished Jewish genealogies, family histories, and family names in archives and libraries in the United States and abroad continues the work started by Zubatsky in Volume 1 (1984). Virtually a union list, it lacks only library locations for most journal articles. Its thorough introduction explains the scope and content of the book, describes how to use it, and provides a wonderfully descriptive explanation of variant names. The annotations are very detailed and the descriptive cross-references are excellent. These elements combine to produce a highly professional book that is a pleasure to use. Zubatsky ( Jewish Autobiographies and Biographies: An International Bibliography of Books and Dissertations in En glish , LJ 5/15/90) knows his subject well, having published several earlier bibliographies on Jewish genealogy. A fine addition to existing Jewish genealogy literature, this book makes a quantum leap toward effective bibliographic control of the material in this field. It is essential to all genealogy collections and will also be useful in Judaica collections.
