4.0 out of 5 stars A Basic Primer, October 8, 2000
By
This review is from: The Jewish Home: A Guide for Jewish Living (Paperback)
"The Jewish Home" meets the criteria for a basic introduction for those who want to understand guidelines and holidays for building a Jewish Home. This small volume best serves those who have a limited knowledge basis upon which to build. It is simply written, easy to read and uses a Q&A format to provide information about rituals and customs for the practise and understanding of Reform Judaism. The photos are somewhat dated but do not detract from the currency of the textual material.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Quick Resource, November 9, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Jewish Home: A Guide for Jewish Living (Paperback)
This book is like a "cliff notes" for the jewish home. It includes the appropriate prayers for hanging the mezuzah, shabbot etc... and it does a nice job of explaining the holidays and pointing out the difference b/w reform and conservative jewish observance. I have read this book over and over again and will use it for years to come. I plan to read the stories to my children before each holiday.

this is a very informative book on a lot of traditions in the jewish culture. Along with some great hisorical information, you also get prayers and what rituals are done by which sects of jewish people today. A more contemporary look at the Jewish home life. For me a person that is a Jew-by-choice I found this a very useful book.

I looked in book stores and NOBODY had it. One store said they could order it for me for $35.00. Well, I bought TWO copies and paid less than $35.00 including shipping! I had it in two days! This book is awesome for the person that wants simple answers to Jewish questions. By far the best book for understanding the basics of the Jewish faith.
