Product Description

A collection of translations from primary sources on Jewish Meditation, especially relating to the prophetic and mussar schools. Beginning with Sefer HaMaspik Le'Ovdei Hashem by Rabbi Abraham Maimonides the famous son of Rambam, this book presents authentic traditional sources from the Tanakch, the classic commentaries, the mussar school and the kabbalists about Hitbodedut or secluded meditation. This is not an instructional guide but a collection and minor analysis of these texts to guide someone who has a genuine interest in exploring the primary authentic texts of the Jewish tradition on Hisbodedus of the body and of the mind. Questions answered and explored include: What is Hisbodedus? Who practiced it and how? What are the different forms of Hisbodedus? 34 pages of text and translations. The first part in a series on Jewish meditation.

More About the Author

Formerly of Oceanside Long Island in New York, Rabbi Tal Moshe Zwecker is chassid and student of the Clevelander Rebbe of Ra'anana, Israel. After studying in Yeshiva and Kollel he received rabbinic ordination of Yore Yore from Rav Channen a neighbor, Rebbe and close friend with whom he studied one on one. He has published a translation of the Noam Elimelech into English, a collection of essays on Jewish Meditation and hopes to publish the Kedushas Levi, a collection of essays on Pirkei Avos with a chassidic commentary and many more projects soon. A Noam Elimelech sequel (with material about his brother the holy Rebbe Reb Zusia of Hanipoli) is in the works as well as the Kedushas Levi on the Moadim so stay tuned.

He currently resides in Ramat Bet Shemesh, Israel with his wife and children. A volunteer speaker and Maggid shiur in local RBS Shuls, he teaches classes and does guest speaking engagements on a variety of topics from Shabbos Drashos, Shalosh Seudos Torah, Chassidus, Mussar, Jewish Meditation and Topics in modern and contemporary Halachah.

The Baal Shem Tov saw Moshiach in a vision. He asked him "When is the Master coming?" Moshiach told the Holy Baal Shem Tov "when your wellsprings spread out." That is the goal of Be'er Mayim Chaim Publishing to spread the teachings of Classical Chassidus to a wide audience.
