This review is from: Jewish Sports Stars: Athletic Heroes Past and Present (General Jewish Interest) (Paperback)
This is an excellently written guide to Jewish- American sports heroes. It is divided into chapters according to the sport: Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Boxing etc.A similar book also of excellent quality was written many years ago by Harold Ribalow.

This review is from: Jewish Sports Stars: Athletic Heroes Past and Present (General Jewish Interest) (Paperback)
I read the book with interest after viewing it with 'positive' reviews and made a purchase to learn in details about the Jewish sport athletes. It turns out that there is more than what is wrong with the book itself, by the author, David J Goldman. It turns out that there are possible numerous inaccuracies in the book, despite the fact that on the cover noted that the book was a 'revised' edition. Okay, the examples of such errors is listed on page 59 under the biography of figure skater, Sasha Cohen. First of all, the date she was born is currently listed as October 6,1984 instead of by her correct birth date which is October 26,1984. However, the editor didn't do the job of correcting the mistakes listed ion the pages. The second is that Sasha's coach is known as John Nicks, NOT John Nickson. And I really don't know that Sasha was even known to be a dancer when she originally was going to take gymnastic, but her mother convinced her to try figure skating. And I am assuming because these two important facts contained in the book was highly inaccurate, the editor, needs to do a better job of correcting mistakes before the book is even allowed to be published. The greatest fault in the history of creating this book to honor the athletes, goes to Mr. David J Goldman. It is a huge insult to his own intelligence while trying to honor and recognize the athletes whose contribution to the sport is highly appreciated. As the result of seeing errors after errors, I warn the previous reviewers of not taking the time and effort to review book carefully before making any attempts to give this book an 'incredibly' favorable reviews.
