Book Description

January 1, 1993
This collection of articles is culled from the columns he wrote for the weekly 'Jewish Press' from 1961 to 1990. Rabbi Kahane fought fervently and fearlessly for a broad range of Jewish causes. One of his most important weapons was his pen. His articles were impassioned yet logically reasoned expositions, applying the Torah approach to current situations and issues. They show his unique ability to translate Torah values into a viable, practical approach to the urgent problems facing the Jewish people in our time.

It is not an easy thing to be holy, and there is not a man alive who has not stumbled as he has walked down the road of life, and fallen, even if but for a moment, into impurity... But it is holiness and sanctity that remain the ultimate goal and purpose of the Jew, for to be holy is to approach the Almighty who IS holiness, while to emulate Him is the reason for man's being.

What a difference it would have made had Israel immediately after the June, 1967 War, when the whole world stood solidly behind her, knowing that she had almost gone under and miraculously survived, declared: All this land is ours, historically; it is Jewish from the times of the Bible.

This review is from: On Jews and Judaism: Selected Articles 1961-1990 (Hebrew Edition) (Hardcover)
This books deals with today's issues as if were written only yesterday. Rabbi Kahane's incisive articles are as true today as ever.

In fact, the articles in this book were written by Rabbi Kahane between 1961 and 1990, but if their dates would not have been given, I would have thought that he wrote them only last week.

He insisted that Jews must be proud of being Jewish. This is the basis of his philosophy, whether he applies it to determining government policy or to conducting one's private life.

This book must be read - it is a breath of fresh air!
