This review is from: The Jews in Late Ancient Rome: Evidence of Cultural Interaction in the Roman Diaspora (Brill's Scholars' List) (Paperback)
I generously give this book 3 stars because it is meticulously researched. But, this is not a book that that most people would read cover to cover. It is chock full of footnotes and does not really have what I would call a solid theme or story. Now, I don't need to read dumbed down versions of anything, but this is too replete with detail to be anything other than a reference guide on a very arcane subject. I think it must have been the author's PHD thesis.
