This book was an interesting read, at first I was wondering how the process of IVF can be explained to a child in a simple manner, but it was well done. I read the book to my 4 yr old son and he was very interested didn't ask any weird questions, just liked the story and pictures. I felt a little weird about reading the word sperm and egg but no questions were asked about the words because of the great illustrated story seen in a young child's eyes as only to be a boy and girl or a Mom and Dad. The Author did a great job portraying the personal, painful subject of IVF for a couple to a young audience. I think it was done with taste & should be read to children conceived through IVF.

I read this book with great interest and I would love to be in touch with the author. I have added it to my my blog here: [...]. It is a blog about children's books that talk about IVF, surrogacy, sperm donation, etc. They are children's books like Jhwee and Jhwah that help parents explain assisted conception to their children.

I purchased this book because I will have an IVF baby. I bought it before baby is born because I was hoping to be able to use it to explain IVF to baby's big sister. I really liked the book, it did a nice job explaining the process in a way that is not too weird for kids. I plan to start reading this to baby before baby can really understand, then by the time he can understand he will already know.
but i did not like the book for the older sibling. It focused too much on how the parents were lonely without baby and how the baby was the most beautiful baby in the whole world. I do not want big sister to feel like even though we had her, we were lonely or she was not part of the family (particularly since she spends much of the time with her other parent) or that she is also the most beautiful girl.
However, the book did give me a good way to present IVF to big sister and gave me some good ideas on how to "sanitize" the process so that big sister, who is older than the target audience of this book but too young to know all the gory details, would understand. She was facinated.
