I purchased the 52" one piece Jiffy ice chisel from Sportsman's Guide. The ice chisel arrived without the vinyl tip protector shown on the web page for the item. Furthermore, the ice chisel was shipped in a cardboard box that that it barely fit in without the point protector. Predictably the chisel point penetrated the cardboard box during shipping and was bent. I contacted Sportsman's Guide about this and was told that the chisel does not come with a point protector. Finding this hard to believe I contacted the manufacturer, Jiffy in Sheboygan Falls, WI, and was told that every ice chisel ships with a point protector. The ice chisel works great so buy it. Just don't buy it from Sportsman's Guide.
